i think this might be a little hard for you, mostly due to your SAT scores. Your GPA is also uncompetitive, even for in state students. I say just give it your best shot and pray for the best.

I agree that this is a slight-high reach, but don’t give up.

Damn man, I feel you. I am kind of in the same boat but I am a legacy with a similar ACT score. Your upward trend will impress them but this is a situation where your essays are key, if you can knock them out of the park things could go your way. Don’t not apply (hopefully you already have) just because people online say you’re not good enough. No offense to the people who chanced you, they have very valid points but there ARE exceptions to the average stats

Well i did choir last year, not sure how much that counts for…

and really they won’t recalculate my gpa, so it will be like 3.4? that blows. oh and in that case will my 3.9 show or will they still unweight, since my school will not unweight of course they will show their scale…

they take into account what ever gpa is stated on your transcript, however they also take into account the scale and relative comaprisons of your gpa with other students who are applying from your school.

ok last question, sorry to be dragging a nearly hopeless topic on.
This will get a few people mad and i don’t agree with the practice but, do i have a slightly higher chance since I am south Asian? I think that only applies to in-staters though right?

Ehh, you might, but it’s really only a high advantage for blacks and Latinos. There are actually studies out right now that say Asians are LESS sought after at top-tier universities! You never know, though. (I’m half Japanese [though I look like a white kid hahaha], so I hope it pans out this way!)

Don’t worry about your SAT score. I know a girl who was accepted today with an 1870 OOS score, so it should not be much of a concern. Also, she had a 3.8 weighted; however, she did Early action.

Well, it depends. For the examples listed above, the students had high GPAs regardless of their SAT/ACT scores. One’s chance of admission depends on many factors. Lots of ECs/leadership skills may help make-up for a low GPA or SAT/ACT score. Or a high GPA could make-up for lack of ECs. But by all means, go ahead and apply man. Be confident. Good luck!
