Chance me for LSA EA!!

UW GPA: 3.78 W: 4.8 (went to a hard school)
ACT: 28 (25,22,35,28)
TOEFL: 96
EC: I went to rural China to be a volunteer teacher for a semester in Junior year. It’s very special at least for me.
Volunteer at different places
Work at several restaurants
Played soccer for 4 year
Essays: I wrote about my experience in China, which is considered very impressive by my teachers and friends
I talked about my STRONG interest to Umich and LSA, and a different way than just academic
Rec letters: I talked to teachers that knows me very well and I believe they will write good essays.
After all, I know I have low GPA and standardized test scores, but Michigan is the ONLY school I want to go. I think I have impressive and different experiences than normal US students. My concern is that from my college visits, the admission officers seem like care about grades VERY much, and that’s what I’m weak about.
Plz chance me for EA.

Btw for classes, I took A LOT OF AP classes as a Chinese immigrant. But didn’t get chances to take AP exams since I was in China volunteering when AP exams happened.
I lived in house by myself since sophomore year, if that makes a difference. (It was really a hard time for me to live alone in a different country, studying, working, playing soccer, and doing volunteer :()

Last, I live in Texas.

ACT is slightly low for Michigan and being out of state will make it slightly harder, but I think with your great GPA and course load you should have a pretty good chance.

Thanks! U think I should apply EA for sure? I’m afraid I’ll be rejected though. Since my TOEFL score is 96, however umich said the toefl range should be 100. I don’t really understand what the “range” means here. Does it mean around 100, or above.

You should apply EA. The worst you’ll get is a deferral.

thanks! I will.
