Chance Me for McGill (and Other Similarly Ranked Universities)?

Hey, so I’m currently a junior in high school and was wondering what my chances of getting into some universities were. I plan on majoring in some sort of science field and may pursue medicine, but I’m not entirely sure. Should also be noted that I’m Chinese.

Cummulative GPA: 4.250 (this is for freshman and sophomore year only)
Current GPA: ~4.5 or 4.6 (don’t entirely feel like calculating it right now, this would be junior year only)
ACT Score: 34

Advanced Classes:
Freshman

  • Honors Biology, A
  • Honors English, B
  • Honors Algebra 2, A
    Sophomore
  • Honors Chemistry, A
  • Honors Physics, A
  • Honors English, A
  • Honors Pre-Calculus, A
  • AP US History, A : AP Test Score: 5
Junior (These are the grades I’m probably gonna be getting, not entirely sure yet since there’s still one more quarter left in the year)
  • Honors English, A
  • AP Computer Science, A
  • AP Economics (Micro + Macro, it’s one class at my school), A
  • AP 2D Design, A
  • AP Calculus BC, A
  • AP Chemistry, B
Senior (The ones I’ve signed up to take, obviously haven’t taken them yet)
  • AP Psychology
  • AP Statistics
  • AP Biology
  • AP Studio Art (?)

Extra Curricular/Awards:

  • Video game making/computer programming club
  • Art club
  • Volunteering at Concessions
  • Artist for Kopeph Labs (friends’ little “pseudo-indie gaming company”, as they call it)
  • Freelance work, Notable ones listed below:
    - Alternate Book Cover Illustrator for Baron Syndicate -1: Crossroads of Destiny
    - Illustrator for a special edition of the previous book
    - Artist for the Baron Syndicate: Activities of Destinies “activity” book
    - Logo designer and creator for CJ Mobile Loyalty (Boyfriend’s company… haha =w=; )
    - Writer for psych2go.net
  • Honorable Mention for Scholastic Art Contest
  • Honor Roll

My top pick would be McGill University, but other universities I’m looking at would be the University of Toronto, Emory University, Vanderbilt University, University of Western Ontario, etc… basically a highly ranked school, but not like the top of the top tier. My major concern is that I want to do something science or medicine related, but my most important grades for such a major aren’t my best. At this point in time the highest grade I can get in my AP Chem class would be a B, and next year AP Bio is said to be the hardest class in our school, meaning I may end up with a B in that class as well.

Also I realize my ECs are somewhat weak. I’m hoping to get some sort of officer position for the video game making club and maybe for the art club, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to (in all honesty, I’m not much of a leader, I mean look at my stats I’m a nerdy girl who does art like seriously). I’m also entering the Scholastic Art Contest next year and hopefully I’ll key in it, but obviously that’s up in the air as well.

What do you guys think? Any recommendations for things I could do to make myself look better? I also wouldn’t mind hearing what universities you’d recommend for me.

Thank you!

McGill, Toronto and Western are pretty much safety schools. You are in the running for the American schools but at that level nothing is guaranteed in admissions.

tomofboston: Are they? I know they tend to be easier to get into compared to the American schools, but they’re still pretty prestigious in their own country

You’d definitely get into these schools based on these stats and for the American schools your definitely in the ballpark but you never know with admissions. Good luck! Please chance me back!
