Chance me for merit scholarships at UT Austin, even one-word replies much appreciated

Hey guys, there’s notoriously very little info about selectivity into UT’s scholarships. All I know is that they’re extremely selective (what a great confidence booster) and hard for non-football people to get. I’m auto admit for UTA but it’s an amazing school that I would be thrilled to go to with some kind of scholarship under my belt. Need-wise, I’m not sure I would get any so if any of y’all would mind reading my stats below and give me a rough chance, I’d very much appreciate it!

I know of: Terry’s, 40 Acres, Dean’s Scholar (CNS), some where you have to be a veteran/related to some guy idk. I guess I’m looking more into the less restrictive ones? Thanks again!!!

I understand I am “competitive” and am wondering if I actually have a chance, because I know there are a ton more qualified people competing for these honors. Again, any responses would be just AMAZING. Thank you!

Terry is a need as well as merit based scholarship, so if you have no need the Terry scholarship won’t apply to you. You have all the stats and great ECs for the other merit scholarships. For yourself, this decision will probably be based on your essays. I’m sure you have applied to the Dean’s Scholar program. If you are accepted early into that program, from what I have seen, that increases your chance for a scholarship. I know for CS, the only students who received scholarships were early accepted Turing scholars. You do have a chance because you do have all of the hard stats but as you stated there are many highly qualified students so I hope your essays make you stand out.

@GTAustin thank you! I actually haven’t applied for deans yet, so I may be screwed in that regard. Honors-wise, I was thinking about applying to HSS, but I’ll also do deans for the scholarship chance

Apply to honors to give yourself a chance. And write great essays. UT scholarships are extremely unpredictable.

@culaccino DS was awarded a scholarship we had no idea existed when he applied. It was a named engineering chair merit scholarship. My advice to you is to fill out any and every suggested honors and scholarship application available, that applies to you, on the web site. It can’t hurt and you could be pleasantly surprised!
(In addition to the CC norm high stats, he was an award winning writer so, I’m thinking his essays helped.)
*also FYI UTA= UT Arlington, UT = UT Austin
