Terry scholarship

For those of you applying for terry's at utd, what are your stats? Also, what are your parents income and an estimate of your efc?? Just curious as to the stats of others applying!

Also I have some general questions about terry. I received the Honors AES scholarship, so is it still possible to get both aes and terry's? If so how much can I expect to recieve from Terry's because my honors scholarship gives me a 6k stipend for room and board, books, etc.

Any responses to my questions will be much appreciated!! Kinda clueless on the whole process haha >.<

Have you been selected as a semi-finalist for the terry scholarship?

NO :frowning: Have you? The director of the terry program told me invites go out mid-March

I got an email saying that I was being considered for advancement, but I have no idea what that means. I don’t know whether it means I’m being forwarded to the foundation, or whether I’m being offered an interview.

From what I understand, universities usually send out emails telling someone whether they’re in the running by late February, and then their info goes to the Terry Foundation. I don’t know what happens after that though.

Really??? Do you mind telling me your stats, academic wise and financial if possible. An d when did you get this email haha. I really thought i would get it but I havent yet ;(

Oh and did you get it in your regular emial or zmail?

Thanks!!

I go to a very rigorous high school, and most of the courses I’ve taken have either been honors, AP, or magnet. I make A’s in about 75% of my classes (there are a few B’s and C’s in my transcript). My unweighted GPA is a 3.0. On the SAT, I scored horribly on the math section, I got a 490. My score was MUCH higher when I took the ACT, I scored a 27 on the math.

But I make up for my dismal school grades through extracurricular activities, and my rec letters were amazing.

Even though I’m a semi-finalist, I think the foundation isn’t going to offer me an interview because of my academics.

What were your credentials, if you don’t mind me asking?

Doesn’t semifinalist mean you got the interview? So if you got the interivew invite you are a semifinalist.

And I dont mind sharing!
Rank is top 1% in a fairly competitive high school
1480 sat composite
decent extracurricular
good amount of volunteering
essays were extremely well written according to a current terry scholar

overall I would say based on my stats I was extremely well qualified… the only thing might be my efc that’s hurting me.

Ill call Blythe torrest tmmrw morning for more information. When did you recieve this email??

Did you apply for the terry program at u of h, utd, or both?? I have applied for terry’s at ut dallas

I thought being a finalist is when you get the interview. This is so confusing. But I’ll wait till the first week in March. If I don’t get anything in the mail, I’ll assume the foundation has decided not to hold an interview with me.

Your credentials are really good. They’re much better than mine. When you were applying for the Terry Scholarship, did you send rec letters along with the application? Also, did you specify that UTD was your first choice, and that you would live on campus if awarded the scholarship? If so, that’s probably the reason why they haven’t contacted you yet.

I applied for the Terry Scholarship at UH, but I have three friends who applied to the Terry Scholarship at UTD.

Getting the interview does not guarantee you the scholarship, so semi-finalist = got interview, finalist= actually awarded the scholarship haha!

Yes i did send rec letters, specify that utd was 1st choice and live on campus. Did your friends who applied to utd get contacted yet? Maybe its just a utd thing to not contact.

Tell me if you get any good news!! or if any of your friends at utd get any :)

That makes more sense.

The email I got was to confirm that UH was still my first choice, and that I understood the conditions of the scholarship.

I’ll keep you posted!

Alright pm me whenever you get an updates!

According to someone on this forum, interview letters have already gone out.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa? How?? The director of terry at utd told me mid-march… Do you know if invites went out for utd? I will call utd tmmrw and ask then

I know the ones for UH have gone out. And none of my friends who’ve applied for the UTD scholarship have heard back yet.

do yyou know anyone who got it???

How much do they pick at uh for the interview

I don’t know about that. It doesn’t say anything on the school’s website. The user beta95 received an interview letter.

Which part of Texas do you live?

I live in Ft Worth texas.

Can you share his stats if available?

I don’t know this person’s stats. He/She just notified me about the letter they received. the mail might just be going out regionally. Where I live, the mail doesn’t get dropped off till one in the afternoon. I’m not being very hopeful, but you still have a pretty good chance of getting an interview.
