You need to bring your SAT up to at least 2250 to be in good standing for MIT Upenn and Stanford. Your SAT II scores are on the low side for those schools, after all they are pro math/science and most of the students there have received 800s on math II chem and/or physics. Right now, it is Very unlikely you will get accepted to MIT and Stanford. You have no national/international awards or major hooks. Upenn you have about a ~20-25% chance

^ I agree. Stanford & MIT are long shots given your SAT I and IIs, particularly since you are not at the very top of your class. Fair shot at Penn.

I’d say MIT is a pretty high reaches due to your non-800 math score (especially as math team captain) and below average 2180. FRC/Science Fairs looks impressive in my opinion for a possible chance at Stanford, if you can get 2250+ in SAT

take BC as a senior, MIT will see the AB and be a little concerned

Just wondering, how high of a score was your AMC10 to be a school winner? Because I really can’t see an AMC10 school winner NOT getting an 800 on any math-related SAT.

Hey tmanneopen if you want to try and boost up your SAT scores that’s totally up to you but they are great getting any higher is not going to improve your chances Stanford doesn’t take you if your scores are perfect. After a certain score they just blend in with all the other high scores. The most important thing I would focus on is definetely the letters of recommendation and your essays. Those can be your hook as well.

Stanford 2013

I disagree when the poster said that Stanford won’t take you unless your scores are perfect (I think that’s what he/she is trying to say). I think your main hook would be your involvement in robotics, so you should try to stretch that subject in your essays as much as you can.

Try to maybe self study some APs and retake your SAT and SAT II

I forget exactly the score for the AMC 10, i think maybe in the 80’s?

Also, didn’t someone from MIT say that all 700+ on SAT sections and 750+ on SAT II’s are enough? Maybe that’s what I just heard
