Chance me for my dream school, Columbia! I promise reciprocity as best I can!!

Hey all, long time reader, 1st time writer (as cliche as that sounds), hoping you all could give me a general idea of my chances for admission at my dream school, Columbia.
Gender: M
Race: White/ 2nd generation American Israeli (does that count for anything?)
Expected major: English
Grades: (I apologize in advance, my school doesn’t convert to GPA)
Freshman year: roughly an 84 average, 87 weighted, 1 AP, 2 honors, 1 “advanced”
Sophomore year: roughly 92 average, 95 weighted, 1 AP, 2 honors, 1 “advanced”
Junior year: roughly 96 average, 99 weighted, 1 AP, 2 honors, 1 “advanced”
Projected senior year: 4 AP’s, 1 honors, grades unknown
AP’s:
AP World History – 5
AP US history – expected 5
I will be taking AP Calculus AB, AP English, AP European History, and AP Physics senior year.

SAT’s: 770 writing, 770 reading, 760 math, total 2300 on the nose.

EC’s:
-Varsity track all four years
- religious youth group all four years, clocked over 200+ hours community service therein, I give up my spring break and a week every summer to do charity work abroad, Youth advisor in Junior year (selective position, only 10 of them with 30+ applicants), and expected senior advisor senior year
-Founding member and board member of the Young Philanthropists charity fund, all four years
-Model UN all four years
-Debate team sophomore year on, varsity for junior and senior years
-Service league of Boy’s (charity group) all four years, Sophomore liaison for sophomore year, Vice president of philanthropy Junior year, President senior year (already been informed of acceptance to the position), totaling probably 100+ hours philanthropy total therein
-Yearbook sophomore year on: intern sophomore year, Layout editor and designer Junior year, editor-in-chief senior year

Additional info:
-Unsure if helps my chances at Columbia, but my dad went to business school there
-Spent two summers taking classes there, have a relationship with a professor or two in English department
-Currently in process of a novel, unsure whether I should put it on the side burner for now or just go all out and finish it in time for application to serve as a feather in my cap (I have an adult friend who is learned in the process of getting a book published)
- My classes are very rigorous, only slightly easier than the most rigorous, and even then only in my math and science courses, yet in all of my classes I am either the top of the class (literally in some cases) or within, I’d say, the top 3-5. My school does not publish official rankings.

I apologize, I completely forgot about other standardized tests
PSAT’s: 212 (unsure of specific breakdown)
Sat II’s:
Bio: 670
World History: 740
Math I: 720
(planning on taking more… appropriate SAT II’s this year… I.E. more english, history based)

I reckon you have a really good chance!! Your ECs look impressive, and so do your grades. hope you are admitted :)

So far looks good! it does help that your dad went there, that means youre a legacy and that pretty much helps even if your parents don’t donate money
Good ECs and Test scores, just make sure to keep your grades up… I think you’ll make it!
Good luck : )

^to the above.

business school doesn’t necessarily carry over to undergrad. you might want to do some research OP

I think you have an excellent chance at Columbia. Your SAT and GPA seem good. Your EC look good, but I am not sure if you will be counted as a legacy. Good luck!

Having a grad school parent generally does not translate to legacy status.

What state? It will be harder from New York or Virginia than, say, Wyoming. When you say you’re top of the class, do you mean intellectually or grades-wise? Or both?

What might hurt you is that a) you might not be marked down as having a “most rigorous” curriculum (talk to your GC–definitions of the term vary school to school) and b) your SAT IIs so far are not bad–although the Bio gives me a little pause–but not all that impressive by Columbia standards, either. Otherwise you look like a competitive candidate, although that’s no guarantee of admission.

Your freshman and sophomore grades could be better, but it looks like you have an excellent chance at Columbia. Excellent ECs and your already-forged connections with Columbia can’t hurt.
