<p>Having a grad school parent generally does not translate to legacy status.</p>
<p>What state? It will be harder from New York or Virginia than, say, Wyoming. When you say you’re top of the class, do you mean intellectually or grades-wise? Or both?</p>
<p>What might hurt you is that a) you might not be marked down as having a “most rigorous” curriculum (talk to your GC–definitions of the term vary school to school) and b) your SAT IIs so far are not bad–although the Bio gives me a little pause–but not all that impressive by Columbia standards, either. Otherwise you look like a competitive candidate, although that’s no guarantee of admission.</p>
