chance me for my list of schools :)

yeahhh i was about to say! thanks for the positive feedback though!! i know im pretty much garunteed at richmond and tulane (tulane is Eveeryonneees backup school at my school) and i have a good change at mich and nyu, but chicago, vandy, and usc are big stretches. oh well! thanks for the feedback anyway!

I don’t know why you think Mich is a stretch, NYU seems like it’d almost be a definite(depending on the school you apply to). You have an excuse for the low Gpa… a 34 on the ACT’s is out of the top of the middle 50% of scorer’s on many of the college’s you listed… I am not trying to get your hopes up, i’ve just seen many kids with lower test scores get admitted to many of these colleges. Especially: NYU, Mich and BC. And especially not Vandy? She’s in the high end of the ACT scores, and only 65% of students even submitted ACT’s. The % of students submitting SAT’s is even lower. As for USC, she’s right up there with all the other accepted students as far as stats go… Maybe a little low on the EC’s. I’d say out the colleges you called big stretches, Chicago is the only big one… But that’s just me, I think I got lucky with the schools I got into, making me look on the brighter side haha.

Edit: Im not talking about her getting a good amount of money at all of these schools, I am simply stating for most of these schools she has a very good chance of getting in.

that lifts my hopes some! i hope it turns out that way! thank you for saying so

@ bbr00ney.

This doesn’t need to turn into a back and forth thing with each of us returning variances of “no, you’re wrong.” Bottom line is that she’s got a 3.5ish GPA, average ECs and a killer test score. Most of the schools we’re talking about are just a notch or two below ivy. That stuff doesn’t fly. Vanderbilt admits 17% of applicants. All I’m saying.

If it makes the OP feel better to listen to you, that works. Neither of us really knows what we’re talking about. She’s got the same chance of getting in regardless of what either of us think. I think that your perceptions of these schools are way off, but whatever.

My perceptions of these schools are not way off, as I got accepted into BC as well as NYU as an undergrad…The problem in my case was lack of money. I had a 3.6 a 33 ACT score and a 1940 SAT as well as many EC’s, but this is beside the point. irmjunior, does your school weight AP classes? And if you don’t remember she also stated how her uncle and all of his kids went there, and he donated a bunch of money. An uncle that donated a bunch of money, an ACT score right at the top of the middle 50% of scores, when only 65% of first year students even submitted ACT scores, decent EC’s, a legitimate reason for why her GPA is lower than it should be. The kids without flaws in their resume’s are the kids getting the full rides to these schools, were just talking about being accepted. Normally I would call Vanderbilt, with her GPA, somewhat of a reach. But given the fact that her uncle has donated a lot of money to the school, i’d say she has a better chance than someone with similar stats. Again NYU, Mich and BC I really don’t see her getting denied from…I am not basing this on my perception of the schools, nor am I basing this on others perceptions, these are all very good schools that she has listed, but lets face it NYU, BC and Mich are no Ivy’s. All in all, i’d say your reach schools are: Brown, UChicago, W&M, Berkely and UCLA.

@fdeb35: I am really not trying to argue.
