thanks :)

female in math is a big plus although your other information doesnt seem to support this. have you done any math clubs/competitions that would reveal your passion for math?

stats are good other than gpa but as you seem to have a good reason behind that you should be fine although I see you haven’t taken very many honors/ap courses which will count against you big time. this all depends on the context of your school though.

the ECs seem pretty bland/scattered other than the nanny and internship which sound really interesting… idk if the nanny is the same as babysitting but nanny just sounds exotic for a high schooler to be. idk. haha.

Vandy/Brown/UChicago/W&M/Berkely/UCLA are probably all high reaches.

take this with a grain of salt bc im still in hs so what do i know?

thank you! i know vandy brown uchicago berkley and ucla all are such a huge chance that its like funny, but what the heck right!?

i plan on doing math club next year at school! i just discovered how much i love math this year. the internship is what im trying to concentrate on devoting my time too, but SADD is a club that is the student version of MADD so its like kinda consistent??
thanks for the rating, that really helps!!

if you want to emphasize your passion for math maybe write your essay about how you realized thats what you want to do.

But yeah there is that consistency with MADD/SADD. i would include fewer reaches and more safeties/matches in your list though

thanks!!!
anyone else?

i guess you would have a higher chance at vandy at brown because of legacy and donations? but i dont know :(

thanks anyway!

any one else?

UT is locked in at top 8% of the class for automatic admissions.

And what exactly are you trying to say by that?

OP said she is applying to UT in state. I dont see a class rank listed.

She never specified UT

Texas (maybe…, i live in texas so its alot easier to get in)

haha ut is super easy to get into in-state. most of the kids at my school who got in / are going there are like a 3 gpa and now honors. if you got a good school and have good extracurriculars / connections your pretty much in. its just that if your in top 8 / 10 % you get in without even like doing anythign… your garuntteed

I am curious - on what basis are they being admitted though?

well, at least what my college counselor has told me that Texas weights the resume a HUGE ammount. they recieve so many qualified applicants that having alot of activites and interests is a huge admissions factor-- apparently many great grades great tests students are rejected because they have no activites, and many horrible grades kids are accepted if they can write a great essay and show passion in their activites. they also weigh alumni connections alot, that is also how alot of these people get in. there are the others though who have a B gpa and mediocre test scores and get in , no one really knows why (at least at my school). so basiclaly you need a little extra push, wether its from the expertisse of a private college counselor, the bonus of having a relative who went there, or in a number of cases at my school, a parent on the UT board (this year a pretty much functionaly ■■■■■■■■ girl got in due to a phone call from the president of the board, no less)…

your username says texas, are you applying there too?

I am a parent. I live in Texas…

Wake Forest- Will get in easily.

Vanderbilt (uncle and all his kids went there, he donated a bunch)-Very good chance.

Brown (uncle / dad went there, donated )- I hate to say it, but im not so sure about Brown. Really focus on your essay, and emphasize why your GPA isn’t as high as it should be. That being said, do not make it look like you’re trying to make any excuses.

USC- Definite yes.
Boston College- Yes.
University of Richmond- yes
BU-Definitely
Miami
Texas (maybe…, i live in texas so its alot easier to get in)- yes.
Michigan (ann arbor)- yes definitely
Loyola Marymount- yes
W&M- Your test scores are good enough for sure, hopefully your school weights GPA’s accordingly?

W&L- I’d say yeah.

Tulane- yes

maybe NYU- yes

maybe Uchicago- Maybe, leaning towards yes.
USD (san diego)- yes

All in all, your test scores seem to be towards the top of the middle 50% of people that submitted scores, especially in terms of the ACT’s. However, it’s pretty much hit or miss with your GPA. There’s no doubt in my mind that you will get into most of these schools, if not all of them. All in all, i’d say you have a pretty good chance.

Chance me back!

Thanks!

Miami- Yes to lol.

@bbr00ney.

I don’t want to discourage the OP, but, uh, she is definitely not a lock USC, BC, Richmond, Michigan, Tulane, UChicago, NYU, and especially not Vandy. Like, she’s got a chance… but those are the cream of the crop, and there are flaws in her resume for sure.
