Chance me for my top choices please? (Brown, Tufts, etc.)

Hello, everyone :) I would love it if you could chance me for these schools:

-Brown University (top choice, ED)
-Tufts University
-Northeastern University
-Boston University
-New York University
-The George Washington University
-Any colleges that you recommend?

A little bit about me:

Location: New York
Gender: Female
Ethnicity: White

GPA: 3.6 (possibly 3.7) out of 4.0 (school does not weight or rank)
ACT: 31+ (haven't taken it yet; taking it in June with writing)

My grades were low my first two years of high school because of illness. It caused me to miss a lot of school. I switched to an online school this year and now I am back to having a 3.8-4.0 GPA for junior year. But overall, my GPA remains low because of the first two years. I plan on writing about it in my essays

Classes:
-Freshman Year: Science Research (AP Weighted), Honors Biology, Honors Global History (two year course), Honors English, Honors Spanish, and Algebra
-Sophomore Year: Science Research (AP Weighted), Honors Earth Science, Honors Global History, Honors English, Honors Spanish, Geometry, Photography 2, and Psychology
-Junior Year (transferred schools): AP Psychology, AP US History, AP English Lang, Algebra 2, Spanish 4, and Physics
-Senior Year: AP Government, AP English Lit, AP Economics, and Trigonometry/Pre-Calc

ECs:
Extracurricular Activities:
-Freshman Year: 40+ volunteering hours at various places and two science fairs (not competitions)
-Sophomore Year: School newspaper copy editor/editorials editor, two science fairs (one competition), poetry club, pre-med club, and 80+ hours of volunteering/tutoring in other various places.
-Junior Year (transferred schools, not many extracurricular activities available): Biology Club (as well as an editor of the BioClub newspaper), Photography Club, School Newspaper (writer, possibly an editor senior year), and another 40+ volunteering hours. I also have a few small jobs, including head photographer of products at a local company.
-Summer: Went to a prestigious creative arts camp for 8 years and took a creative writing course at Summer@brown in 2011. I'm going to volunteer all summer this year.

I would like to major in either Psychology or English (may change).

I hope this is enough information! Thank you to everyone who replies :)

-Brown University (top choice, ED) ----------------Nope…
-Tufts University ---------------------Ehh… maybe
-Northeastern University ---------------- Probably
-Boston University -------------------Yes
-New York University ------------------Probably
-The George Washington University -----------------Probably

Ok so I need to ask if your GPA is weighted at 3.7? If it is then it significantly lowers your chances. Your test score is below average for some of the schools but your ECs seem pretty tight, nothing too bold, but they work together to form a nice base.
Here:
-Brown University (top choice, ED) Maybe, medium chance
-Tufts University Probably not
-Northeastern University Good chance
-Boston University good chance
-New York University probably not
-The George Washington University probably not

Chance me?

??? You said that she has a good chance at Brown, but not at NYU!!!

Brown is SO SO SO SO SO much harder to get into than NYU
Her scores and ECs are on par for NYU

^ I think the poster was factoring in the ED boost. Even then, I think chances are slim.

Thank you for all of your replies!

-My 3.7 GPA is unweighted.
-I know my chances are pretty low for Brown, but it really is my dream school and I plan on expressing that in the supplemental essay. I also have a “review” from my teacher from Summer@Brown (sort of like a report card, but instead of grades a very long description of what I contributed to the class and how she saw me as a student) and I like to think what she wrote is impressive, so maybe I’ll be able to send them this?
-I’ve worked on a lot of things for my health, which made it hard to find time to participate in extracurricular activities, but I did my best. I plan on participating a lot more in the future, including many more volunteer hours and a job.
-If I don’t get into Brown, I think I might apply to Tufts ED2. Would that help my chances at all?

Once again, thank you all. Your responses are very helpful :)

From one Brown EDer to another, best of luck! Brown is pretty impossible for anyone. I don’t even think I’ll get in, but there’s no harm in trying.

I considered doing Tufts ED2 after getting deferred from Rice ED, but I didn’t. I’ve been told that Tufts ED2 doesn’t give any real boost to your chances. I got in RD with similar ACT,higher GPA, and far less ECs than you

Good luck, heyimpeter! :)

Wavylays94, thank you very much for the reply. Do you think because I was sick and that it obviously reflected my grades, they might possibly cut me some slack? I’d never expect anyone to do so, which is why I’ve pushed myself as hard as I can, but I’m just wondering if it’s a possibility that they’ll see I’ve worked hard to get that GPA, despite missing so much school? I hate to keep bringing it up, but my low GPA just worries me a lot.

Also, I’m not quite sure that’s my GPA. I had a VERY low GPA in my old school (3.3 out of 4.0 unweighted, but since that school weighted I had a 4.0+ weighted if I remember correctly) and now in my new school, I have a high GPA (3.8-4.0, but most likely a 4.0 and my school does not weight) So I sort of just averaged the two together, but I think that colleges will see it differently.

Does anyone know HOW they’ll see it?

bump!!!

anyone???

???

Most use unweighted grades from all schools you attended.
