I also did a pre-college program at Brown in which I took a class on stem cell biology and regenerative medicine.

I would say my essays are pretty good. I have a rec from my AP Lang teacher-- she is a wonderful lady and she said that she hasn’t had a writer like me “in years.” She is also the teacher advisor for the school literary magazine so I’ve known her since freshman year. I have a rec from my AP Bio teacher but I am kind of worried about it because she is not the best writer, and I feel like her rec would be pretty dull. I have a third rec. from one of my French teachers who things I am an angel sent down from the heavens ;). So I know that one will be good.

So what do you guys think?

I think you’ve got a good shot at all of these? I’m not sure what those grades would be on a 4.0/5.0 scale, but just eyeballing you’re probably around the 3.7-3.8 range? With that and your SAT, you’re at or a little bit under for these schools, by my guess. But, you do have the great hooks of being not only a girl interested in engineering, who’s done well, but a Iraqi immigrant. As i’m sure you’re well aware, make sure to harp on these points in at least some of your essays for each of these schools. I think that will up your chances to each of these.

At a guess, you’ll get in to either brown or dartmouth, get in to WPI, boston, and northeastern. You may get rejected from tufts, or possibly both ivies, but you look like a solid applicant with good hooks and demonstrated interest. Good luck

I think Brown and Dartmouth are reaches, but it’s possible you’ll get in. Tufts is a low reach and everything else is a match. Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1939905-chance-me-p1.html

Brown is a reach (but it’s a reach for most people). You have very good chance with all the rest.

I think you have some really nice stats! The only thing I might say is the small amount of AP classes might hurt (but only if you chose honors over AP- if they weren’t offered, then it doesn’t matter)
Brown, Dartmouth, Tufts- these are so selective, even with your qualifications, I’d say you probably will only get into one of these schools, if any.
Northeastern-accept
Boston University-accept
Worcester Polytechnic Institute- accept

@kittkatt835 I was worried about AP’s too, since most of my AP classes are taken senior year. Still, 7 is a good amount I think. I didn’t have AP choices for history, so I did IB HL and they cancelled the AP Chemistry class even though I was signed up for it because not enough people signed up.

@sciencenerd123 Oh crap sorry I didn’t see the senior schedule part. Yeah, seven is good! Still stands about choosing and AP class over an honors one, though. If you had a chance and didn’t take an AP, that might hurt you. Sucks about your chemistry class :frowning:

My thoughts: Brown (reach), Dartmouth (reach), Tufts College of Engineering (middle reach) Northeastern (accepted), Boston University (accepted) and Worcester Polytechnic Institute (Accepted)

@kittkatt835 all of the honors classes I took because I had to. English honors 9th and 10th, then AP 11 and 12. Honors World History and US History (no AP, honors is the path at my school), then IB History HL. Honors for math until calculus and stats (the only AP’s offered in math). As for science, the only APs offered are Physics and Bio, and I took both (choosing calc-based physics over regular). For french I took regular until AP was offered senior year. So I never chose honors over AP. Also I’m taking a chem class at my local community college that is equivalent to AP.
