I am currently a junior in high school. My weighted GPA is 4.38 and my unweighted is 3.8. I've taken 5 honors so far and have had 2 AP classes so far. For my senior year I plan on taking 4 AP classes.

The 2 AP classes I've taken so far are AP French and AP European History. For my senior year I plan on taking AP Spanish, APUSH, AP Government, and AP Computer Science. I also plan on having Honors English Literature.

My SAT score is 1850. But I plan on taking it again and really want around a 1900.
Also, on my SAT subject tests I did French and US history. I got a 800 in French and 710 in US History. In the fall of my senior year I plan on taking Math I, Spanish (WL) and French (WL) subject tests.

For my Extra curriculars, I have been involved in many school activities. I am in French National Honor Society, President of the FNHS, Treasurer of French Club, VP of Spanish Club, and am in National Honors Society. I am a part of the Key Club International and do multiple volunteer assignments with them. Also, I have and will volunteer for congressman in the city I live. For sports, I am on JV Lacrosse, Varsity Cross Country, and JV swimming.

I want to go to Georgetown, American University, Boston Uni, Lehigh Uni or George Washington Uni. I plan on double majoring in a foreign language and International Business or International Affairs. (Not completely sure yet.)

My talent is foreign languages and I will put that in my college essay and I will get letters of rec from my language teachers. I am currently studying 3 languages and want them to know that.

American: Low - Mid Reach
Boston: Low - Mid Reach
Lehigh: Mid Reach
GW: Mid - High Reach
GW is high because you are just above the 25th percentile for SAT. The rest you are round the 50th percentile.

asianas you got it wrong
im sure that you’ve got good chances at these colleges but you need better stats for georgtown . gwu might be a reach too

Your chances are absolutely wonderful. Even with your SAT’s, schools as presigious as Georgetown will want you because of your strong ability in language and history. Schools want a well rounded student body and not necessarily a well rounded student and will accept specialized students like you without question.
The business major though - do you feel you have any credentials in business or a strong essay that can make you seem passionate about it? Your leadership within the clubs and organizations are great starting points and I feel like you should use them to your advantage. Absolutely make them your selling points when applying for that specific major.

(Please note my comment further down, which is relevant to my chances)

@ThesisWhite- I’ve taken Honors Accounting, marketing, and international economics at my school. So I have a lot of knowledge of business. I think that international business would fit me well because I love foreign languages and cultures. But im definitely leaning towards international affairs anyway. I think it’s more interesting and beneficial for me.

Also, thanks for explaining that colleges want a diverse students body. You’ve really motivated me to try even harder in languages so that I can achieve getting accepted into my top schools. thank you very much!

Also, do you have any tips to make me more competitive in these schools? It’d be greatly appreciated!

American and GW have reputations for admitting students who express interest in them. This would mean applying ED or visiting and interviewing. The Elliot School of International Affairs at GW is hard to get into, and American holds International Affairs applicants to a higher standard as the School of International Service is very well regarded. I agree that Georgetown is probably a reach, and if you want to study International Affairs GW and American are two very good, very realistic options. My advice is to demonstrate interest in either American or GW and with the demonstrated interest combined with your stats, you should have no trouble being admitted.

Sometimes the people in this forum make me want to cry. According to nation wide statistics the average SAT scores is a 1538. You’re obviously getting into colleges with. 1900+. To be totally confident in your chances at these specific schools, however, you should get your SATs up

Uh… Sorry to break to you but Georgetown is extremely competitive and average sat score is way above 2000. 3 languages aren’t that special either. Have seen plenty with 4 or more, including myself. But if you can get 2100, you will be solid candidate.
