Chance me for Northwestern, UChicago, Brown, Cornell, Penn,Duke, JHU, WashU & UC Berk

Junior in a Top 100 Public School

Stats-

Unweighted GPA: 3.8/4.0

-My School GPA system works in intervals of .5 (4.0, 3.5, 3.0 etc...), where a 95 to 100 in a class=4.0, a 90 to 94=3.5, an 85-89=3.0 etc...

-Say you take 10 academic classes, and get an 100% in 5 classes, and a 94% in 5 classes, your GPA=[(4.0x5)+(3.5x5)]/10= 3.75, even though your percent average would be a 97%

-In conclusion, the system ^ sucks lol

List all weaknesses & area of potential improvement

list all colleges, and tell me weather its a reach, match, etc and maybe an explaination of why you think so

You have very good stats. I would say, however, that you do have a ton of extracurriculars. I assume that you would not be able to fit all of these on the Common App, so you should find the ones that are the most important to you. Do you have a certain image of yourself that you are trying to sell? For example, if you were really into Biology, you could have the main focus of your application be the biological aspects of your life. So my advice is find your hook and sell it.

As for the colleges you have listed, it is really difficult to predict with any of these, as they are all extremely selective schools, but I would say that you have a decent chance of getting into at least one or two of them. Best of luck to you next year, my fellow junior!

which would be the few i have a good chance of getting into?

I’M a sophomore in hs so I’M unable to answer ur question lol but instead can I ask u something? Do u get AP credit if u take the exam and ace it but u don’t take the class?

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using CC

And ur sat score and act scores are so good! Did u go to prep? With those stats, u can get in all of the above schools lol

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using CC

It is hard to say which one, as these schools are all very selective. It just depends if you fit what they are looking for in an applicant.

o word. BUMPPPP

Northwestern-reach, UChicago-reach, Brown-reach, Cornell-low reach/match, Penn-low reach,Duke-low reach, JHU-low reach/match, WashU-match & UC Berk-match

Why r they reaches

Because most applicants to these schools have stats that are as good or better than yours, way more than can be admitted. Also your lack of leadership in EC’s as an earlier poster stated.

UCB: Almost safety
NW: Slight Reach (GPA)
Wash U: Good chance (NO FA)
Brown, Penn, Duke, Chicago: Reach
Cornell: Slight Reach (GPA)
JHU: Slight Reach (GPA)

tomofboston i run a school organization/charity what are u talking about.

what are good things on an app that show leadership??

Wow, your parents are millionaires? The fact that you don’t need financial aid, that would certainly help too I think. You should do something that you love to do.

ok but how does money help at all i still dont get it

like people always say it does but i dont see how having a higher income can help my chances of gettign into a school besides the ones who dont offer financial aid, which is basically just Washington University lol

Need blind is not necessarily need blind. And not need blind is basically “GIVE ME YOUR MONEY.”

$$ Wash U. $$

I will forever see Wash U. with dollar signs.

dude i have no idea waht u are saying. lol

Schools that say they are need-blind sometimes lie (they may look at your income on a second or third pass-over, especially when comparing you to someone with similar qualifications).

Schools that ARE need-blind are all about that cash money and will wait-list you otherwise.
Wa$h Univer$ity is especially guilty of this.

Kna what I’m sayin doe?
