Chance me for Northwestern, UNC, Washington University St. Louis, and Rice University??

Hi!

I am a white, Jewish, female about to go into my senior year of high school. I'm really in love with Northwestern and would absolutely love to go there. I also love the idea of UNC, Wash U, or Rice, although I know less about them than i do about NU.

My superscored SAT is a 2120
Math: 650
Reading: 730
Writing: 740 (With an essay score of 11)

My dry score is a 2110
Math: 650
Reading: 730
Writing: 730 (With an essay score of 10)

I have taken the SAT II in American history and I got a 690. I took it again today (hoping to get above a 700) and am planning on taking the Math 2 test in the fall as soon as it's available.

My GPA at the beginning of this year was a 91.1% (roughly a 3.6), but considering my schedule this year was harder, i'm expecting it to drop to about an 88 (roughly a 3.3) My school does not weight GPAs.

As far as APs go, this year i took APUSH and currently have an A average, and AP English Language and i have an A in that as well.
Next year i will be taking:
AP studio art
AP Environmental
AP Calc AB
AP Spanish

I would have also enrolled in AP English Lit and AP Government, but my school offers Senior Seminar Programs, and so for English, Soc, and Drama credit i will be taking a 3 period class called Stages, in which students write, produce, direct, and perform their own original musical. It's a really unique thing to have on a resumé and im really excited to take it.

Extracurriculars:
4 years of Girls Varsity Soccer (including 1 All-County award and 1 All-Class award)
10 years of out of school Travel Soccer (I don't know if that makes a difference but i'll just put it down)
3 years of Girls Varsity Fencing
1 year of Girls Varsity Lacrosse
4 years of Athletic Leadership Club (including an officer's position)
2 years of Peer Drug Education and Peer Leadership Clubs/Programs
2 years of Model UN (including an officer's position)
2 year member of my school's Congress
Ample community service hours, mostly working with mentally handicapped adults and kids (e.g. Special Olympics)
Summer cashier job (summer 2013)
Summer lifeguarding job (summer 2014)

I also play the piano and love to sing, although i do neither officially. I'm not in my school's orchestra or chorus and i've never done nisma or anything like that, i just enjoy music.

I pride myself on my writing and think that my essays for my application will be pretty strong.

Additionally, I have a pretty close relationship with my AP English teacher, an amazing writer and a Northwestern alum, and am planning on asking him for a letter of recommendation, along with my APUSH teacher and my school's vice principle.

I would also apply early decision to the schools that offer it, which ever i choose as my top choice.

Do I have a chance?!?

-sorry this is so long-

From the top.

 1. Jewish is is an OVER represented minority @ some of these schools-- won’t help, may hurt.
 2. Your SAT is kind of borderline. To have a “safe” shot, I’d recommend 2220 or a 33 on the ACT. What’s more concerning is your combined CR + M which is only a 1380… That’s unfortunately pretty low for these schools.
 3. You’ll need about 2 subject tests (it looks good). It’d be best to have both above 700, preferably 740+.
 4. So… what has been your GPA each year? What’s your cumulative GPA? Have you taken MOST of the AP classes your peers are taking? What’s your class rank-- top decile? From what you’ve said about GPA, that too is quite low.
 5. Your EC list is long, but not particularly spectacular for schools of this caliber. Jobs, though, are great. Good job with that!
 6. Write good essays. That will help your case.
 7. I’m not sure how it’d weigh in, but your teacher being a NU alum may help?? Recs are SUPER important so that may also save some other borderline things on your app.

Overall, these schools are all going to be reach schools. If you’re instate for UNC that would help A LOT. Overall, you need some match and safety schools.

What are you interested in studying? What are you looking for in a school? I know quite a bit about these schools so I may be able to help.

I’m a senior who just graduated, so all of this is FRESH in the mind. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions :)
