Chance me for NYU, Boston College, UMich?

For Biology or Chemistry major - want to go into pre-med (a little advise on this part would be good too ^^)

Female
New York resident
Korean American (was born in America)

GPA:
unweighted: 3.85
weighted: Don't know
Rank: top 15-20% (not sure - school doesn't rank)

SAT:
first time: 1950 (1310 CR + Math)
second time: 2070 (1410 CR + Math)
SAT IIs (the part that kills my chances):
Biology E: 570 (taken Sophomore year)
Math IC: taken this Saturday, don't know score yet.

EC: Math League, Biology Club, Anime Club, Korean club, Key club, Volunteered at nursing home (70 hours), volunteered at YMCA (135 hours), soup kitchen once in a while (xD), went to summer at Columbia 2007 - got a really nice letter from the teacher of my course, took Public Health and Genetics in Molecular Biology.
Also in Spanish Honor Society, and applied for NHS this year (results not back yet)

Courses: 1 honors as freshman, 2 honors at soph, 4 honors as junior, 1 honor and 2 APs this year.

I applied ED to Cornell University, but I'm going to forget about it and just think I didn't get in to concentrate on my next choices.
Boston College is my second choice, then NYU, then UMich. I'm also applying for Carnegie Mellon, but that is quite a reach =/
Also, I might be changing my major to chemistry because my SAT II biology score is so low. I LOVE biology, but if I have a next to none chance at getting into that major because of that score, I might as well not apply for that major.
Some advise would be wonderful ^____^

hahaha koreans ftw, although i wasnt born in america. Anyway, you have good GPA/SAT, but only a decent ECs. For rank, you should definitely be in top 10%. I would say you have a solid chance for BC, NYU, and maybe UMich. Since you already took the courses at Columbia, why not apply there? Summer programs do really increase chances. Who knows you might get in. i have horrible stats but i went to Harvard summer school so im applying there for the heck of it.

chance me too? <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/588529-chance-me-plz.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/588529-chance-me-plz.html</a></p>

thank youuu

Bump please 8d

bump bump? D:

woow no one else?

nooothing? :(

nothing overnight? D=

You'll probably get into BC, waitlisted at both NYU and UMich and get into UMich.

woo thanks ;D

buump

your clubs seem sporadic. Were you very involved and have any leadership positions?
Very few honors and AP classes. Honestly, I dont think that you will get into Cornell. There is nothing to set you apart. Also premed advice STUDY, STUDY, STUDY, when you are finished. STUDY MORE!!!! After that, take a break and then STUDY
During your free time, instead of partying, volunteer at a hospital, (doing meaningful work) for at least 500+ hours in addition to shadowing a doctor or two 200+ hours. Also, get engaged with 2-3 EC.
You must do all this while getting a 33+ on the MCAT and a 3.8+ GPA in the hardest classes that your college will offer you. After that, you should get into a decent medical school but only if you ace your interview and your essays.
Doing all of the above will probably not get you into Jh or Harvard med though.

As for your other schools, you have better shots. I just think no to Cornell because they are trying to move away from that Easiest Ivy image and you dont have a hook (sorry)

chance me back please???
<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/592529-chance-me-plz.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/592529-chance-me-plz.html</a></p>

I was very involved in Biology Club, but no leaderships.
My school also doesn't offer many honors or AP classes :/
most APs are offered during senior year, and I couldn't fit all of them into my schedule

I already knew Cornell was definitely impossible (maybe 1% chance? =D)
so Boston College is my next first choice.

& thanks so much for the advise on premed also!

buuuuumpppp

bring up my post :O

solid gpa and sat scores for boston college. i say you have a pretty good chance.

and about the pre-med, i think you'd be better off majoring in either bio or chem. pre-med is too generic and if you decide you dont want any more of school, then you know you can enter the workforce with those degrees. [just to be safe:) in case you change your mind in the future] plus, you can get in to med schools with any bachelor's degree, as long as you meet their pre-requisites.
