Hi! I'm a junior interested in majoring in finance in college.
gender: female
race: asian (chinese)
school: suburban public school
location: indiana

gpa: 3.7 UW, don't know weighted
no rank
SAT: 2200
ACT: 30

APs: WH (5), Euro (5), Human Geo. (5)
my junior schedule:
ap calc ab (math is not my strong suit; I got a few c's my freshman year :S)
ap english lit
german 4
ap stat
ap micro econ
ap psych
ap chem
ap us history

ECs: JV Lacrosse, key club (I have about 200 volunteer hours), part time job, debate team, tutoring club (leadership position), german club, best buddies

I dont' know if I should add this to my EC list, but I flipped a house the summer between my sophomore and junior year with my dad. He provided the money and bought the house, but I did everything else (ie contracters). I ended up making a pretty awesome profit and he let me keep some of the $$$. :D

My only concern is my senior year. I'm fairly confident I can keep my junior grades up and possibly raise my gpa a little. However, next year, I am going to be studying abroad in Shanghai at a Chinese school in a last ditch effort to improve my Mandarin. I don't anticipate my grades to be very good considering I can't...read Chinese very well, but my parents are forcing me. How will colleges view this? Will they omit my grades from the high school I attend in China because the grades I will recieve will obviously have no merit?

Schools I'm interested in (for finance only) in order of priority:
NYU (ED, dream school, etc. etc.)
Fordham (I love theology too; planning on double majoring if accepted)
BU
IU (safety)

Can you guys recommend some other colleges with good finance programs located in a large city? I'm having trouble finding some good match schools and I'm looking to apply to maybe another reach school along with NYU. Maybe Whatron haha.

Thank you to all the members of college confidential who help out clueless high school students such as myself!
