Chance Me for NYU, UChicago, Macalester, Etc.

I'm a junior at a rural high school in Minnesota. Needless to say, we've very few advanced classes. So, I'm just curious what my chances are at Macalester, NYU, Swarthmore, Skidmore, UChicago, and Carnegie Mellon.

So, do I stand a chance at Macalester, NYU, Swarthmore, Skidmore, UChicago, and CMU?

Try to get those test scores up and I think you’ll be fine; you have pretty well-rounded stuff going on.
Macalester- Not too familiar with this school
NYU- high match; they could use the geographical diversity
Swarthmore- low reach/mid-reach; they’re pretty insular from what I know
Skidmore- not too sure
UChicago- Reach/High Reach
CMU- Reach

bump.

I guess it’s good that Chicago is my last choice! I refuse to take the SAT again. It’s such a beast, and I doubt that my CR score will improve to be over 700.

I’m hoping my ACT makes up for it!

Someone must have some output, specifically towards Macalester and NYU!

I suggest that for NYU you try and get your SAT score up a bit. My friend is going to NYU and she received over a 2000 on her SAT’s.

You’ll get into Mac with those stats.

For NYU, you’ll have a better chance if you get your ACT to a 32/33, or SAT up a little more, whichever one you’d rather take.

Rural Minnesota is a + for you since schools look for diversity, and I guarantee not too many students apply to these schools from where you are.

I heard Mac is a great school. It’s on my list too.

HBrown, I DO have over a 2000 on my SAT.

I’m taking the ACT again this June. A 32 was my goal last time, and I missed it by one subscore point. Sigh. Also, Macalester is really amazing. I’ve toured, and it’s definitely worth applying to!

Also, what are some other colleges in the New York City area that would fit my academic range?

Colgate and Vassar are two prestigious schools that you’d have a chance at. Well actually Vassaar, you’d have to get your ACT up one/two points
