NYU is my #1 and has been for as long as I can remember. I am applying RD, however, because I've never been to the campus and do not want to commit to late ED without having visited at least once.
My GPA is a 3.5 (Weak, however there is a valid explanation for it that is included in my application. I've had a 4.0 since second semester sophomore year in all honors and APs)
SAT- 2140
SAT II- Lit: 720
ECs- very strong
Essay- very strong
letters of rec- very strong
counselor letter of rec- strong
Keep in mind that there are many other students from my school applying. I'm not sure how I compare to them. I'm assuming that my ECs/SAT/Essay are all better, but that their GPAs outweigh mine.

PS I’m applying to CAS

It would really help if you actually listed what kind of ECs you have, although you said they were strong so it shouldn’t be a problem. I think you’re a good candidate for NYU. Your SAT isn’t the most impressive but should cut it for NYU. Also, the strong upward trend is a good thing and the admission officers hopefully will forgive you for your poor performance freshman year as long as you have a good explanation. I think you could also apply to Perdue, Rice, and Wake Forest as alternatives. You can make it into most four year programs and don’t have much to worry about. Best of luck!
You have a good shot

I think if your extracurriculars are up to par then you should be fine. You have the scores to get into NYU, and I believe it will primarily be up into your essay and supplements
