I'm a senior this year, and my top choice school is NYU. I'd be an out-of-state student. My GPA is a 3.96 (I'm in the top 10% of my class), my SAT score is on the lower side of the range (1790), but I took the test again and got a 1860 - still a little low on the spectrum but it was a better score than the first one. I sent my SAT Subject Test scores (my U.S. History score was an 800, Biology E/M was a 660 - better than I'd hoped considering that I'm a first semester AP Biology student). According to a few college mentors, I wrote a great essay, and I have been involved in several extracurricular activities at my school, while I've really put my energy and dedication into one or two of them. I've got three recommendations from my school counselor and two teachers (my AP biology teacher is one of them, since I want to major in biology). I'm officer liaison (basically, someone who helps out all the other officers) of my school's Interact Club and was treasurer of the club last year. I'm also involved in:

What are my chances of getting accepted? I've heard even high-achieving students sometimes get rejected - in other words, NYU is random when it comes to accepting applicants. I'm about to submit my application (regular decision) and I'm freaking out! I don't want to find a rejection letter in the mail in a few months!
