ECs - I am editor of the yearbook and have been since junior year. Prior to that, I was the copy editor. Im also president of Gavel Club, a public speaking organization that derives from Toastmasters International. My junior year I co-founded our schools literary magazine, which was inspired by Tavi Gevinson and Rookie magazine. My friend and I serve as co-editors. I am the president of the National English Honor Society, which I helped found, and I am also occasionally involved in Model U.N. I am a member of the National Honor Society and the Youth Advocacy Board, a group composed of the best students from around the county who advocate for local teens. I recently spearheaded a campaign to end abstinence education in our county and get people involved in discussion about contraception. I also hold a part-time job as a host/waiter at a local restaurant.

I attended the Georgia Governor's Honors Program in Communicative Arts, I'm an AP Scholar with Honor, and I won a regional Silver Key in Poetry for the Scholastic Arts & Sciences Competition. I also received a full scholarship from CNN to attend the Georgia Journalism Academy held at the University of Georgia. I also frequently publish for Huffington Post Teen. This past summer I lived with my aunt in San Francisco and worked for a local publication.

I'm confident in both my essays and teacher recommendations.

I hope to major in English/creative writing, journalism, or international studies. I want to continue writing (and most likely venture into journalism), but I'd also like to work in international affairs and focus on sexuality, health, and access to contraception in developing nations.

Can you chance me for Oberlin, NYU, Princeton, Emory, and UNC - Chapel Hill? I chance back!
