Chance me for OU?

I've dreamed of attending OU as a fall 2013 student for a while now. However, my GPA is beginning to make a pessimist out of me. It currently sits at about a 2.88 (unweighted). My first round of SAT scores came back as a total of 1510, however I've studied extensively and hope to raise it to at least a 1700 (my math score is the only score bringing me down, my other two are both a bit over average).
Despite my low grades, I am a very involved student and hope that this will help me stand out to application officers. I am Editor-at-Large of my school's award winning yearbook (Editor-at-Large is the second highest position one can hold). I am involved in my school's DECA team and have become a state finalist. I am a top merit point earner in my school's student council. And I have also been involved in the theater department for all four years of school. I have community service experience and also hold a part time job.

So with all of that in mind, plus my 2.8 GPA, and if I were to get a 1700 on my SAT, what do you think my chances of getting accepted to OU are?

Thank you in advance.

Look at the CDS: <a href=“Institutional Research & Reporting”>Institutional Research & Reporting;

3% of entering freshmen had GPAs of 2.99 or lower. Look at the SAT percentile ranges, and see where you fall. Note that extracurriculars are not considered in admissions.

Also, it’s the University of Oklahoma, even though it’s abbreviated OU.

Well, I feel like my chances just went down the drain. Thanks for the information, though.

Once you’ve got 24 hours of college credit, I don’t believe OU looks at your high school transcript or standardized test scores. All they care about at that point is your college transcript. [Transfer Admissions Requirements - Admissions - The University of Oklahoma](http://www.ou.edu/content/admissions/home/requirements/undergraduate/transfer_admission.html) says you’d likely need a 2.50 GPA for all your attempted college hours. (And if you can’t manage a 2.5 at community college or a directional, OU will eat your lunch. I took a summer course at community college, and about half the other students in it were OU / OSU students retaking the class to get a higher grade.)

I agree with the post above. Keep up hope, and study hard!
