wow perfect attendance… what a nerd (haha kidding :P)

I find it a little strange that you are ranked 9th at an “extremely reputed magnet school” yet your SAT is a 1930 (try taking the ACT instead). Your AP scores are great and so are your ECs. Since you said “Classes: 8 AP (3 this year, 5 next year),” I’m going to guess you’re a junior.

I’d say you are currently borderline. Definitely get your standardized test scores up and your rank if you can help it (it’s quite high but its still only 9%).

yea well thats why even i’m really confused…and i guess one of the reason this happened is because i moved from india only 2 years ago so my english skills are not up to the mark…and SAT has 2 “english” sections which is where the confusion occurs (still its not an excuse, if i want to get into these colleges, i should have the ability to pull off a 2100)…and no i mean i took 3 last year and taking 5 APs this year…sorry for the confusion its a typo up there

I think you should definitely try and take the ACT if you still have the chance, it is a more straightforward test and I think you will do better on it. The SAT is kind of concerned with tricking people and for a person who just moved here 2 years ago from India, that could be bad for your writing and reading scores. The ACT has an english, writing, reading, science, and math section and is not focused on tricking you.

However, if you have made a commitment to getting higher on the SAT (through taking prep courses or extensive studying) stick with the SAT. You should not learn to study for a new test by any means if you have already committed heavily to studying for the SAT.

Make sure you apply to a wide variety of universities, you might not get into UT by virtue of the fact that they do not take many out of state kids but you could get into a lot of other universities that are not bound by the rules UT is bound by (top 10% rule).

By all means, good luck! It’s nice to see a fellow indian here. :D

Definitely give the ACT a try.
