Chance me for Princeton please???

Hi, I am currently a junior, hoping to apply and be accepted to Princeton to study economics. Please let me know what you think my chances are :)!!!

GPA (unweighted): 4.0
GPA weighted: 5.6

Rank: 1 out of about 800

AP’s: I have taken almost each one at my school. 2 freshman year, 3 sophomore year, and 6 senior and junior years. Also, I take classes at a local college over the summer.

SAT: 740 math, 740 reading 720 writing
Composite: 2200

ACT: 32

EC’s:
Debate 4 years (President, VP, Treasurer, Squad leader)
Youth Leadership Broward member - a local leadership group
SHAPE service club (Treasurer, Historian, Researcher)
Rho Kappa 3 years (VP, Treasurer)
PAW Animal welfare club 4 years (secretary)
Foreign Language honor society 4 years(President)
National Honor Society 2 years (Treasurer)
Mu Alpha Theta member
I helped coordinate for 3 years a Teen Political Forum event where local politicians come and teenagers ask them questions.

Question: could I include a group I started for teens to meet outside of school and discuss economics. We also studies together for macro and micro. It wasn’t part of school, but could it help bc it shows interest in econ?

Volunteering: Over 500 service hours
I volunteered in Ecuador to help at a low-income rural school
I volunteered at a local summer camp, retirement home, and other events.
I volunteered on a campaign for governor making phone calls and going door to door.
Tutoring students in low-income areas through a leadership program I participated in

Awards:
I made it to octofinals at a national tournament in Debate
I placed many times at a local Spanish competition

Please let me know what you think my chances are or if you have any tips to improve my application. Also, I have a brother will similar goals and plans as me so if you have anything I should have been doing throughout High school that would have helped my chances let me know!

And if there is an econ program you think I have a better shot at let me know, but I really do have my sights set on Princeton.

Also I led a service project to collect items and create care packages for soldiers

I think you definitely have a shot! Definitely include ECs outside of school if you have spent a significant amount of time on them (although keep in mind you only have 10 slots on the Common App).

One thing I find a lot of people overlook is the importance of essays. You’re definitely a qualified applicant, but you need something to differentiate yourself from the other qualified applicants. Since you’re a junior, the easiest way to do this would probably be through your essays. Spend lots of time making them unique and memorable!

Of course, this is Princeton we’re talking about, so make sure you have some safeties/matches that you love as well!

Thank you so much for your reply! I definitely will focus on my essays and thanks for the tips. Yeah, I have UF (I live in FL), UNC Chapel Hill, Georgetown, and a few other options.

You definitely have a shot bud! I’m really, really rooting for you.
Make sure your essays are stellar. I think that’ll be a huge component to your application. Seeing some of your achievements, it sounds as if you’re Hispanic which is considered a hook in admissions as you’ll be considered an underrepresented minority. This will help your application a bit but you still need to pull through with great essays and recs. You also need to take two SAT subject tests (I’d take a third one in spanish too since its incredibly easy for native speakers and you can place out of languages at Princeton if you score well) I will be attending Princeton this fall and would love to hear that you’d be joining me next year.
Please feel free to dm me for any help or suggestions as to schools you should apply and such.

Basically as good as of a chance as you can get. However, considering how random admissions sometimes can be, that chance is still very low. Not saying you are not qualified, in fact you are very qualified, but it’s just that your character and personality (shown through your essays/recs) matter so much more nowadays that based solely on stats and EC’s, it is nearly impossible to predict if you’ll get into such a selective school.

What is your intended major? Are you an URM? Which part of the country do you live?

ECs look pretty good but I don’t see anything that stands out.

Homless2Princeton, sadly I am not hispanic, even though it seems so. I just love the language. Thank you so much for your advice and offers, it’s greatly appreciated :)!!!

Sgopal2, the EC’s that I think will help most are my success in debate and volunteering abroad, hopefully. No, I am white, and my intended major is economics

Rdeng2614, you’re definitely right about showing my character. I will make sure my essay and recs are good. Thanks!

“I made it to octofinals at a national tournament in Debate”: Was this TOC’s? And if so, what event?

I would suggest retaking SAT or ACT if you are unhooked. Otherwise, you have around the same chance as everyone else. Make sure to right stellar essays and good luck!

Is it only really helpful if it is toc’s? No, it was near where I live but it is a bid tournament. And thanks for the advice!!!

TOC’s is pretty helpful if you qual Policy/LD. Parli/Pufo not so much, but breaking looks pretty nice. Bidding at one tournament basically doesn’t help at all.
