Summer Programs:
This is a state-funded month-long program where I studied flight science at Appalachian State University for 4 weeks. I learned about the effects of air resistance and drag coefficient, as well as lift, thrust, and gravity, on the flight of a rocket in order to achieve maximum apogee and flight time. For my final product, I successfully designed a model rocket that achieved a maximum apogee of over 300 meters and a flight time of 26 seconds (this was completed through the use of a recovery system that deployed as predicted in test flights), as well as the composition of a paper that described the physics behind its construction and an in-depth analysis of the data

Excellent chances, given your stats and resume. Good luck!

Thanks! Anyone else?

Bump Please!

Good chance. Don’t count your chickens before they hatch, but I think you’ll be fine.

Looking good. Ballin’ ECs

Thanks guys! Yeah I’m not expecting anything great but hoping for the best. You never know what goes on in that admissions office lol.

Anyone else?

Good EC’s but what’s up with your senior year grades? slacking a little lol?

Haha nah brah hard teachers/classes. Hopefully NU will see my 7-point grading scale at our ridiculously difficult school haha

Can anyone attest to this please? NUraider may be right…hopefully they’ll see that 7-point grading scale.

Your AP scores don’t seem to correlate very well with your class rank or GPA. Also, more than half of your senior year are Bs, which will impact you negatively to any college you apply to.

Having said that, I think you should be set for Northwestern.

Also, are you sure Northwestern superscores the ACT? If it does, that’d be pretty nice.

not sure what your 7-pt grading scale is all about since I’ve only heard of 4.0’s and 5.0’s but the bottom line is yeah, you have more B’s than A’s senior year and you’re applying to a school where pretty much everyone has A’s in high school. So if applications go up as much as they should… then I’m not sure that you’re going to be as convincing with those grades.

Also you might think you go to a tough school, but without 5’s on those AP’s to validate that, it’s not so clear cut, unless other kids from your school apply with 5’s, and that will make you look bad. If they have all A’s–even worse. Just calling it like I see it, not trying to be mean… can’t take everyone from the same school (I learned that the hard way at another school when I applied early).

You have so many leadership positions. I say you’re in.

WongTongTong: Yeah those AP scores are hurting, but I heard they don’t factor AP scores into admissions? Just the grades in the classes? Correct me if I’m wrong.

NUraider: Same. Please correct me if I’m wrong because that was the impression I’ve been under for a while by reading this forum. Also, we’re a pretty new school (only 3 previous graduating classes) but we have had 3-4 Duke acceptances/year, 4-5 Ivy acceptances/year, 1-2 Stanford/CIT/UChicago etc acceptances/year, and 2 Deep Springs acceptances in the past 3 years as well as ~40-50 UNC-Chapel Hill acceptances/year (bearing in mind that we are in NC). So I’d say we’re pretty competitive, but once again, please correct me if I’m wrong. I’d rather have a reality check than false hope.

averby: Thanks! I hope you’re right haha
