I want to be a Political Science Major

you seem to have a lot of ECs, but your grades and scores are not very high.

i would say rice is probably not in your future.

: (

I actually think if you can get up your ACT to a 33, you would have a decent shot. You are in the top 10% of your class so your actual GPA doesn’t matter that much. Also, if Rice is your top choice, apply early. It can make a big difference.

decent shot… dunno

Your ACT score doesn’t make any sense. 33, 31, 29, 35 do NOT average to a 30…

He probably superscored asim. For you, there’s no harm in applying. As cali said, apply early so you have a decent shot.

My opinion is that there are two types of people who apply to colleges; those who will be rejected because of their bad grades/lack of ECs and those who will be rejected because of their inferior essays or bad interivew. You are not going to be rejected on the former. Just write a brilliant essay and do a great interview and then your chances of admission will be exceedingly high.

Chances are meaningless; apply and do your best. Either you get in or you don’t. There are kids at Rice with scores much lower than yours, also much higher. We can’t know what makes the admissions committee say “approve” or “deny” - so just apply and see what happens. Good luck.

It’s somewhat useful anxiousmom for relieving anxiety, I’m sure you ANXIOUSLY fretted over chances and read chance threads when your child went to college, ANXIOUSmom!

my mom was more like crazymom at that time :P

I doubt Mike Wozowski’s response relieved any anxiety! My concern, and AnxiousMom’s too, probably, is that people might take the responses to these chances threads seriously and not apply to a school they’re really interested in.

thats the problem with posting chance threads. Who are any of us to say? I guess it is an assumed risk by the OP

Did you go berserk (sounds like Berkeley!) too during college application time!? Wow, I’m so funny… I should major in comedy cough cough

Aaron100, you should apply, you have a good chance and as BerserkMom said, you should not be dissuaded by Mike’s response.

Very funny! That is actually a nickname for Berkeley–Berzerkley–because of some of the crazy things that happen with local politics.

Chance threads are honestly pointless.

As far as I know, the ACT doesn’t average the section scores to get the overall score, btw. I have no idea how they do it.

EDIT: In fact I have no idea how they score it at all. It’s really screwy.

thanks guys,

I no chance treads dont help and what not but i was looking really for feedback on my app… and i got it so thanks

But they do help! They ease nerves, which is important.

or make you freak out… i guess the core concept is that these are just opinions of random people and the adcoms know the real answer, so applying is always a good idea

tim is right, this did ease my nerves, i know i just need to get my scores up and i should be fine and hopefully have a good chance at getting in

See, I was right, Antarius pokes tongue out
