GPA: 3.9 (weighted)
ACT: 29
SAT: 1260 (i know :((( but I got a perfect essay score so I hope that helps)
Ethnicity: African American/Puerto Rican
Course Rigor: 7 AP classes total (but not submitting scores:/ ) and over 20 honors, STEM magnet program all 4 years, also have academic internship
Classes throughout HS: Math up to Pre-calc honors (current), Biology Honors, Chemistry Honors, Physics Honors, Forensics, Advanced Organic Chemistry, AP Chem, AP World History, AP Language & Composition, AP Literature, AP Biology, AP Human Geography, Research Practicum Biology (senior thesis), Technology (advanced), Engineering Honors, Eng 9 and 10 both honors, AP Government & Politics, History 9 Honors

Not sure if this matters much in the chance but I put Social Policy, Urban Studies, and Environmental Studies/Policy for my potential majors.

Activities:
-President and founder of my school’s social justice club (also started a drive for toys and toiletries for women’s shelter and organized an art show just for teens based on social justice issues) (2 years)
-National Honor Society Communications Committee Head/Leader (1 year)
-Did research at ACLU Summer Institute on mass incarceration and created a white paper and presented on capitol hill
-Part-time job at smoothie shop (25 hours/wk during school year and 40 hr/wk during breaks/summer) (2 years)
-Volunteer at non-profit for creating safe space for queer poc on mental and sexual health (40 hrs total)
-Agriculture specialist in Envirothon (club where kids compete on knowledge of environmental issues/facts) (1 year)
-Member of Black Student Union (2 years)
-STEM mentor for incoming STEM freshmen (3 years)
-Conducting research and an experiment on a more eco-friendly way to cleanup land oil spills (for senior thesis)

I also attended a 2 hour meet and greet with admissions coordinators at the Smith College Club of DC and scheduled an interview (later in Januar) so hopefully that will show a lot of interest.

Hi, if you look at Smith’s common data set for 2015-16 (just Google “smith college common data set”) you’ll get a better understanding of what Smith values in its review of apps. On page 7 Smith has indicated rigor and GPA are “very important”, the interview is “important” while standardized scores are “considered”.
On page 8 Smith gives the mid 50 percentiles for ACT/SAT of its enrolled first year class. Note that Smith indicates it doesn’t use the essay component of either test.

So, you sound like a good fit and fall (barely, assuming 630/630, but still not below 25th percentile) within the mid range of scores. Really take the interview seriously and prepare. PM me if you have questions about specific interviewing techniques. Best of luck!
