<p>Hi! I'm Mike and I would greatly appreciate if you all could chance me for a few schools. For a few of these, the answer will likely be along the lines of "everybody has only but a chance," and I understand this fully. For these I would love some insight into whether I am a competitive applicant, at the least. :) So without further ado...</p>
<p>Academics:
-36 ACT (35 Math, 35 English, 36 Reading, 36 Science); had to retake it later for the PSAE for Illinois and got a 35 (35 Math, 35 English, 36 Reading, 34 Science)
-Top 1% of class of ~600. School is not spectacular, but current class is incredibly competitive for what it's worth (I really wish I was in the class prior to us :P)
-Skipped a grade
-5.3 Weighted GPA (5.5 for honors classes, 7 for ap which is absurd but w/e.); 3.9ish unweighted
-Senior year schedule: AP Lit, AP Physics B, AP Calc AB, AP Spanish Lang, AP Macroecon/Gov, Gym+Lunch, AP Psych.
-Ended junior year with all A's in most rigorous course selection possible (3 APs)</p>
<p>Extracurricular:
-Competitive Speech/Forensics is the main one. Placed 6th in the state in impromptu speaking this year (junior year). Will hopefully win next year and possibly place in a second event. Speech generally consitutes most of my time from 3:30pm-6pm on school days. Junior captain and probably senior captain+office holder next year.
-National Honors Society (with the 70ish total hours of volunteer service included)
-Ambassador program with leadership role next year (first year offices are instituted, program was formed (and I joined) my sophomore year). Includes lots of school based volunteering
-President of spanish club! (for all it's worth LOL I suppose I should mention that I am just a white guy, might as well do it here, so no affirmative action shenanigans or anything)
-Student council officer
-Improv+plays+etc.</p>
<p>Other:
-Essays will be very good :P
-Recommendations from teachers will be stellar; counselor... meh.
-I like to dance (in my room)
-Income will be ~30k a year
-I taught myself basic html/css when I was ~10 on Neopets :P
-Thanks for reading! :)</p>
<p>As for the schools (computer science departments, specifically):
-Carnegie Mellon
-Princeton
-Stanford
-MIT
-UIUC
-UMich
-UWash
-GeorgiaTech
-Rice</p>
<p>I would also really appreciate an ordering of best program, per se, of the schools, as well as possible other recommendations if you have them. Thank you, again! :)</p>
