()<>[]<>[]<>()Chance Me!()<>[]<>[]<>()

Alrighty, I go to an extremely competitive, big public school (around 800 kids in my class.) It is ranked number one in the state for almost everything (academics, standardized test scores, and athletics.) I am a middle class white male. My school has 3 levels of classes, in order of difficulty they are: CP, GHP, and Honors/AP in that order. Heres my stuff:

GPA:
Freshman: 3.0 weighted, 2.8 unweighted (2 honors, the rest GHP)
Softmore: 4.0 weighted, 4.0 unweighted (All GHP)
Junior: 4.5 weighted, 4.0 unweighted (2 honors, 1 AP elective, rest GHP)
Senior (expected): 5.0 weighted, 4.0 unweighted (All AP)

SAT:
2250

Class rank: around 110 out of 800 as of now, will probably be top 10% after first semester senior year

Extra Curriculars:
JV Lacrosse Team - 9
Varsity Track Team - 10-12
Cross Country Team - 11-12
Intramural Winter Track - 9-12
Intramural Summer Track - 10-12
Participated in a local winter speed training camp - 11

Computer Club - 10-12 (Secretary/Created and edit the website)
FBLA - 11-12 (Secretary/Created and edit the website)
Oddesy of the Mind - 12 (Secretary/Created and edit the website)
Animation Club - 12 (Founder and President)
Math Honor Society - 12
Mathleague - 11-12
Key Club - 11-12
NHS - 12

Amnesty Club - 11-12
Political Science Club - 11-12
(might not put these two on my transcript since they're kinda overkill on the clubs, and they take away from my focus on computers and technology in my extra curriculars, feel free to voice your opinion on this matter.)

Awards/Recognition:
8th in state at FBLA competition for multimedia presentation
2nd place in regional computer fair for web design
Qualified for state level team programming competition
+the usual random junk I guess

Volunteering:
2 years of key club, 30 hours each year for various stuff
around 100 hours volunteering at a baseball league for disabled children

Other:
Competed in local team programming competition in grades 10-12

I made my High School's website (I think this might look pretty good considering they picked me out of 3500 kids at the school to make it)

I have my own flash cartoon series and website which I make, and have gained quite a bit of recognition for on the internet (I am planning on majoring in cartooning (and business) so I think this should help)

Please Chance Me For:
Emory
University of Virginia
University of Michigan
Georgetown
Notre Dame
Carnegie Mellon (in state)
Lehigh University (in state)
UC Berkeley
Cornell
Penn State Schreyers Honors Program (in state)

Bump......

Your rank will cause problems at big state schools.

And I don't understand the school website thing. How is that impressive?

Emory, Lehigh, and Notre Dame look like good matches/low reaches. UMichigan is also a pretty good bet. And obviously Penn State is a lock.

But Berkeley and UVA are killers for out of state students. And I don't know if your rank and GPAs will keep you in the 'yes' pile.

Emory-high match
University of Virginia-low reach (oos)
University of Michigan-low reach (oos)
Georgetown-low reach
Notre Dame-match
Carnegie Mellon (in state)-high match
Lehigh University (in state)-safe match
UC Berkeley-low reach (oos)
Cornell-low reach
Penn State Schreyers Honors Program (in state)- safety

how will having a 2250 get him in trouble at big state schools?

i think you should also apply to hyps. you never know.

i think having your own cartoon show that you have online makes you really unique and could be a possible hook.

btw what is GHP?

Agree mostly with above. Your ECs are weak. I know it's probably not the right term to use, but that's as straightforward as I can get.

Match at Notre Dame, yet Low Reach for Berkeley and Mich?

By low reach, you mean "almost a match", I hope. Notre Dame is just as hard to get into as Berkeley and Mich out of state.

Gryffon: Weak? :</p>

Floppy: GHP is a level in between CP and Honors used at some large public schools. So, my chances of getting into Cornell are the same as my chances of getting into UVA and Berkeley? Both low reaches?

i think you are good at UVA buddy...match

I go to UVA as an OOS student, I feel like I know what they are loooking for. Your upward trend in your GPA is admirable and you have to solid and concrete EC's that you seem passionate about. You SATs are strong. Write a solid essay and make sure your LOR's are solid and I think you will be fine.

good luck

i noticed you founded a club...UVA likes to see things like that. We are huge about leaving an imprint on where you have come from. Nicely done.

I just realized that "floppy" is a mix between me (Flippy) and Flopsy.
