CHANCE ME FOR STANFORD EARLY ACTION! (and other schools)

Hi everyone. Chance me please!

My top choices are combined med programs at UCSD and USC and Stanford Early Action. I would really appreciate if you would chance me for these as well as all of the UCs, Johns Hopkins (BME program), and MIT. Also, do I have a good at getting the full tuition scholarship from USC?

GPA: Weighted: ~4.3; Unweighted: 4.0

SATII: 800 Math2, 800 Biology, 790 Chemistry

I have no real Hooks and I'm an asian guy from california.

Common App essay is about me training for and winning a tae kwon do medal after recovering from a pretty severe leg injury.

Thanks everyone!

I would say that, as far as Stanford goes, you have as good a shot as any. Your academic profile is basically flawless. I see your EC’s as the “weak” part of your app just because they aren’t AMAZING. Write some good essays.

thanks! yeah ive been told i dont have enough leadership, but nothing i can do about that now i guess :. and yeah im working on my essays so hopefully they turn out good !

Academics are superb. As Ivymadness said, the ECs dont show enough leadership, something that a top school like stanford seeks. However, if you emphasize that you are really good at tae kwon doe accurately without sounding arrogant, it should be possible. but stanford is stanford so its still a reach
Chance me back plz

thanks. bumpp

anyone else??

bumping agaiiinnn

Stanford: Reach/Low Reach (Very difficult to predict)
MIT: Reach/Low Reach
UCSD: Match (Not familiar with the specific programs)
UC Berkeley: Match
UCLA: Match
USC: Match
Johns Hopkins: Match

I don’t know if you’ll be getting a full scholarship to USC, but i believe they base their scholarship off of PSAT scores (please correct me if I am wrong) – so you will be getting at least some money. Overall your GPA, SAT scores, and rank are extremely strong. While you have great ECs, I don’t think they are enough to guarantee admission (relative lack of important leadership positions and awards). Overall, you are definitely above the average applicant to these schools, and it will ultimately come down to how good your essays are.

Best of luck!

Chance me back? : )

thanks! I chanced you back. Anyone else?

The only schools I know about are MIT and Stanford.

MIT: high reach/not likely
Stanford: high reach

My first reason is simply that you’re an Asian male. MIT is extraordinarily, extraordinarily difficult to get into if you’re an Asian male. Unless you have RSI, IMO, Siemens, or some huge national award, I’m sorry for being blunt, but don’t depend on MIT. I know so many Asians who had a near 6.00 GPA, all 5s, and near perfect SAT scores who got rejected.

Stanford is difficult as well, but in my opinion you have a much better shot at it. Firstly, your grades and scores are impressive. I know you didn’t say you were planning to, but don’t retake the SAT; your score is excellent and any higher won’t make a difference. I’m sorry about your AP situation with your school :(. Your internship b/t 11th and 12th is good; emphasize/elaborate on it. None of your ECs stand out and you don’t have outstanding leadership positions, like you said. You still have a good chance at Stanford though; write some banging essays.

thanks. I always thought MIT was at about the same level of difficulty to get into as stanford, but maybe not??
