I am currently a high school junior, and these schools are what I would consider “not a lottery to get into”(aka as not Ivies or schools with ridiculously low acceptance rates)
Schools I am considering applying to: Binghamton, NYU, Williams, George Washington, Boston College, Northeastern, Cornell, Stony Brook(and some of the Ivies+ U Chicago, but I already know they are reaches)
School: competitive public high school in NYC
Ethnicity: Asian
Income: Upper Middle Class(wont need financial aid)
Other demographic info: not first-gen, 1 sibling, stable family
SAT: 1580(800 M, 780 EBRW), 8/7/8 Essay, took it one time
SATII: Chem(750), am planning to take Physics, USH, and Math II
AP Courses: AP World(4)(sophomore year, only course available)
APUSH(), APENG(), APCS(), AP SPanish() will take all 4 of these this year(school caps us at 3 APs, with language not counting towards the limit
Next years planned courseload:
AP Calculus BC, AP English, AP Gov, AP Macro/Micro, College level CS courses
GPA: 3.9 UW, 94 , school doesnt do weighted average
Extracurriculars(this is my weakest thing):
- Cross Country/Outdoor Track(distance runner), planning to do all 4 years, Varsity(may make states this year/next year)
-Varsity Swimming, planning to do all 4 years, Varsity
I just really enjoy doing sports because it destresses me, and for some reason I just like the satisfaction of bettering myself physically, espeically since my family is rather sedentary.
These extracuriculars take up the majority of my time, as practice is 2 hours a day(with the exception of Sunday). I also prioritize sleep a little too much(which in retrospect, might’ve not been the best idea), which gives me very little time to actually study(8 hours of sleep!)
This summer i intend to do internships/summer programs and continue to explore my academic interests in both humanities and STEM( I feel like I am equally interested in both)
