Wow perfect post, I’m looking for the exact same thing. I’ll be applying this summer. I’d say yours looks pretty good, but I went to a TAMU seminar last fall and the guy said they don’t care about high school class rigor. Your GPA is low but your SAT is good and JROTC helps a lot. I’d say try and boost your GPA as best you can and you’re all set. Now, what do you think my chances are for TAMU?

Hi there –

I’m currently an out-of-state Junior in high school and will be applying to Texas A&M early during the summer. I have wanted to go there since I knew I wanted to go to college so I’m a little anxious about applying. I think I have a solid chance of getting in, I just was wondering what everyone else thinks. Here are my credentials:

Class rank: 43/511 (top 8%)
GPA: 5.13 out of 5 weighted
ACT: Took it my sophomore year and got a 26. Taking it this weekend, shooting for a 28.
Ice Hockey all years
Have a job
English NHS (still pending application to regular NHS)
Environmental-Club (taken several leadership roles while in the club)
Was a Teacher’s Assistant Sophomore Year
Received a school award junior year
Some volunteer hours (will be getting a lot more this summer)
Civil Air Patrol (United States Air Force Auxiliary)
I am planning on joining the Corps of Cadets
Have been on an official Texas A&M campus visit

i would definetly say that u have a very good chance on getting in, specially because of your gpa

Looks pretty good
I would just say try to boost your GPA if at all possible, since that seems to be your weak link. But you have a nice list of extracurriculars, so I think you have pretty high chances. Good luck in your application!
P.S. please chance me! I’d really appreciate it.

thank you, gladly!
