Moved here from India in June...School as a senior.. I have these subjects:
AP Calc BC, AP Chem , AP US History, AP Gov, Econ, Hons LA, 2D Design

Have applied to GA Tech and UGA... Early decision...
also,

Should i take Nov. 7th SAT's (As standby)? Have registered for Dec one already
and if this helps...
Right now am classified as an international freshman... but the counselor frm tech said since i am completing my senior year here.. i wld be considered as an in-state student later...

33 Math ACT, 610 Math SAT? Is that a typo?

sadly no…
for the early action i think they just consider my act scores… right?
got sat scores like a week back…

To attend UGA you must have a GPA of <1

i dont know…i know your foreign so they should take that into account…but your scores are oscillating between the two tests…and your reading scores are low (understandably) so i honestly dont know…id say you have a 50/50 chance

i am guessing they will just have my act scores for early action though
would that help out?

If they know you are an international student, you should be fine with your ACT score. Your math score is fine and they are lenient on the English section with non-native speakers.

You’re lucky you did so well on the ACT Math. Your SAT Math isn’t good enough.

so that means i might have a chance at early action…?
also was curious to know if they wld b considering my sat scores for early action… i just took the last sat… october…

You don’t want them to consider that SAT.

yea thts the problem… i already sent it to them for some stupid reason…
I was wondering though wld they be considering it for early action? I got the scores on October 29th and the deadline for early action was October 1st…
If they do… how bad an impact does it have on my possibility of getting in…?

To be honest with you it shouldn’t hurt much because they know students tend to do better on one of the test. Tech also “super duper” scores. That’s what they call it and actually use both ur act and sat to get the highest composite score. For example someone gets 600 cr 700 math on sat and 670 English converted and 690 math converted. They use your 670 English converted and 700 math on your sat. So I don’t think it’ll make That big of a difference. It shouldn’t determine whether you get in or not since you have a decent act score

got my ACT scores!!
have done better in English as i expected, my main focus was on it this time…
English 28
Mathematics 27
Reading 29
Science 26
That should even out things i guess…

Maybe you should reconsider going to Tech… UGA might be a better fit.

But tech “superscores”… so my composite with my past act scores would be 30.
and they consider only Math:33 ,Reading:29 and combined Writing\English(Yet to get that)
soo isnt that good?

My concern isn’t whether you’ll get in, but rather if Tech is the right place for you.

ohh…
i wanna major in computer science… and i am quite good at it(or so i think)… fixing computers… freelancing… started out when i was 10yrs old… so i dont think i wld have any prblm handling that…
is it in that context u mean that it wouldn’t be the right place?

I think he is just concerned due to your sub par ACT/SAT scores. they are well below the average for GT. Just know if you get in there will be a LOT of work you will have to do. People who score 2100+ still struggle with GT’s rigor. Your GPA will suffer and you will have to deal with it. Now with that said, if you are willing to put in as much effort as you possibly can i say go for it.

It’s not quite the same as having computer knowledge. I bet that 90+% of GT students can generally trouble shoot a computer, assemble a desktop, take apart a laptop, etc.

The CS department is a little different. Most CS undergrads I’ve met have programmed serious software. Can you code Pac-man in Java? That’s the first project in the CS for engineers course. I can’t imagine what the project is in the CS major course.

Ya i code too… C, C++ and am learning java now…
Have been working with HTML/CSS (Doesn’t really count but oh well) for quite some time too…
And ya i am willing to put effort into working towards maintaining my GPA…
Right now i have all A’s except in US History(Have no background of it soo…)
