Weakest part of application: GPA D:

Please estimate the chances that I will get into at least one of the Ivy League Universities (+ Stanford and MIT). The dream is a spot at one of these 10 schools, but I’m not hung up over which one. Also, what do you think are my chances for Georgetown and Johns Hopkins?

Whatever you can answer of the above would be much appreciated. Thanks!

HYP are a reach, but first generation sibling legacies will go a LONG way. Your SAT score will help you with Gtown and JHU, but it’ll only get you past the first two rounds or so for Ivys. Your chances at MIT seem strong because of the patent. Depending on what the patent is, Stanford might be favorable as well.

Would be great if you could chance me too please!

For Ivy Leagues, everything is good except for your gpa. However, your ECs are very good and may make up for that. Definitely worth a shot, but all of them are low reaches (ivies are reaches for everyone). The first generation thing helps and ISEF is a HUGE plus. Good luck.

I agree, but your GPA may be more of a reflection of the difficulty of your school, than your “inability”. Some ivys are easier than others. For instance, the avg scores for Penn and Princeton are fairly different. I would suggest you research which of the 15 schools you really like the best based on YOUR interest, not their prestige or how difficult they are to get in. Then apply early decision, this will help your chances with your dream school.

You have a good chance of getting into one of the Ivies/Stanford because of Intel. However, your GPA is weak, and there are a decent number of applicants with the Intel hook and a high SAT score. I think you’ll definitely get into Georgetown and Hopkins, though. Chance back?: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1778302-chance-an-asian-yale-duke-williams.html#latest

You’re definitely a strong Ivy + Stanford/MIT candidate. You have some really interesting qualities in your application with the ECs, first generation, and Intel, and the solid academic background to back it up. I think that you could definitely get into MIT, especially because you have such an emphasis in science and have done things affiliated with them, in the past. I’d also say you’re good for Hopkins, for sure. I don’t know too much about Georgetown. Ivies are a reach for anyone, but are definitely worth a shot and are quite possible. You will, in all likelihood, get into at least 1-2 of them given your achievements. You may want to look into all of them a little more, though, just so you know which you like the best- consider ED, if there is a standout for you. At the very least knowing which you like the best will help you later on if you have to decide between a few. I’d say to make sure your essays/recs, if possible, really highlight some of the unique aspects of yourself or talk in more detail about some of the experiences, like Intel or teaching children; they are really interesting and expanding on them would not only allow colleges to see your work ethic and drive, but understand the scope of your achievements. Good luck!

Your score looks good but your GPA does not help at all

Your extracurriculars seem really good, but your gpa and test scores might hurt you at the ultra competitive HYP, I’d sit the sat again, as it can’t really hurt

Strong candidate! Even though your GPA is low for ivies, you can still raise it by working hard your senior year. You have great ECs, and the only thing that seems like a weakness is your SAT II’s. If your math 1 was a 730, your math 2 might be even lower. For Math II and Bio, aim for 750+ and send those two along with Lit. Chance back?

You seem like a very strong candidate because of your background with research and the patent. I wouldn’t be surprised if you got into one of the higher caliber ivies, considering your consistent performance in science. If you kill your essays and really do a good job of reflecting who you are as a person, not just a student, I think you’ll get in. Definitely research which schools you prefer, though.

Your test scores and ECs are excellent. Your GPA is a little low, however you’re still a very competitive applicant at all of the Ivies, Stanford, and MIT. I would be surprised if you didn’t get into at least one of those school. I think you have a very good chance at both Georgetown and JHU. Chance me?
