Hello and HAPPY NEW YEAR,
After taking advice from my previous thread, I’ve updated my application. That being said I am now EVEN MORE NERVOUS as my stats look stripped and I’ve seen international kids with just athletics that could beat my entire application into the dirt. I asked my guidance counselors for advice but they aren’t really helpful and I didn’t learn anything new. I’m really hoping posting on here can help.
I’m applying for 10th grade and am a biracial (white and indian) girl applying for boarding with FA. I live in a pretty middle class area. I am okay with day if applicable. I want to be chance’d on schools like Exeter and St. Pauls. I would also appreciate any school recommendations for someone who wants to place importance on English, Theatre, the Athletics mentioned later, and Visual Arts.
Academics:
All A’s with Honors from 5th onwards in English and Math. A commenter on my previous thread advised me to get 97%-100% for grades and so far they are in that range.
I will be giving in my SSAT Scores as well as results from character skills snapshot. Please comment in assumption I will get a favorable score on both, because I am studying HARD.
Arts:
- For theatre experience, I have a history with acting classes and have participated in many reputable ones
- 1 and half year experience with Bass Guitar
- 1 year experience with Acoustic Guitar
- 5 to 6 years experience on Clarinet, 1st chair
- 3 years experience Bass Clarinet
- 2 years experience with watercolor
- 2 years experience with traditional pencil and paper art
Athletics:
- 2 to 3 years experience with artistic ice skating
- 1 and a half year experience with ice hockey - I am not part of a hockey team since there are no girls teams within my location :((((((
- 3 and a half years on and off experience with roller-skating - doing competitions with a artistic skating group
- 2 years of experience in running (just running no fancy hurdles or stuff)
- 1 year of experience in softball and part of my school’s team
- 6 years of swimming gone down the drain bc of my weak lungs
- 1 and half years of experience in Karate
Extra:
- 1st in National History Day Club regional (my only award so i really hope it counts)
- I was my school’s news channel’s host for 2 years
- Member of club to help special needs children in my school. It was a really eye-opening experience and my school is of the only schools to have a special needs program so most don’t have the club in the first place. This is smthing I speak about a lot in my interview because many don’t really understand how it is to interact with these kids and how similar and different they can be to you and me in certain aspects.
- Started Mock Trial Club in my school - first student-started club in my ms in a while
- Speak Gujarati, English, and Hindi fluently. Learning Japanese.
- Have career experience as I recently joined a modeling agency (YAAAAAAAAAAAAY!)
If possible, could you guys also share an essay tips and ideas on what is appropriate and helpful to write about. I thought writing about me quitting swimming was good but my guidance counselor said it would make it seem like I was trying to hard to market all my activities and not my actual self. A commenter on my previous thread also echoed her thoughts.
Thanks in advance :))
(if you saw my previous attempt i was just being lazy and making a new acc bc i forgot the password for this one)
I ACCIDENTALLY DELETED MY SECOND TRY OMG THIS IS MY THIRD TIME
