I’m currently a freshman at a top 30 state school which ranks 11th for my major. However, I have decided to apply for a transfer for 2021 as the major I want is not offered at my current uni and I don’t think it is competitive enough for me. I want to major in something in the social sciences and was wondering if anyone could chance me for transferring to Duke, Upenn and Columbia or provide any advice?
I have a current 4.0 GPA from the summer semester and am expecting 4.0 for the Fall as well with one course as Pass/Fail. I have a 1450 in the SAT and wished to retake it but couldn’t due to covid issues. My high school GPA is 3.93 and I am involved in a ton of extra curricular activities in college which include research at Harvard, 3 Student Govt positions and an Editor for my college’s top newspaper. I also served as the Chair in my uni’s MUN and am a blogger for their website as well.
I really love my current institution and am only applying to 3 schools because I know those are the only ones where I can be happier than I am right now. Can anyone tell me how my chances are for transfer to these schools? I’m really worried cus of my low SAT score and lack of subject tests. Do you have any advice?
P.S I’m expecting really strong recommendations from my professors and an average additional rec from my research supervisor. I’d rate my essays 9/10 too.
Hey, all I have to say is that for transferring, the lack of subject tests is not an issue, at all. If you are worried about your SAT, I know some Ivies (if not all?) are test-optional for this years transfer season. Don’t turn it in if you want, but I think it’s great. Just keep doing great, and knock out those essays and recommendations, friend!
