UCB calculates a-g GPA based on 10th and 11th.
You have CS, Math, Phy courses in 12th. Not sure how they can evaluate (they can look at your 1st sem grades and not incl them in GPA calc).

If you apply to EECS, make sure you mention that in the application.

@california32146 That’s a good point. I will mention it in the additional info because I don’t think they look at 1st-semester 12th grades, unlike most other RD schools. They ask for the 12th-grade courses in the UC app so they’ll know what I’m taking in 12th but they probably won’t know what grades I received in them.

why are you not applying to MIT? I would suggest you should apply there too!

I havepersinally known 3 people in the last 2 years with a perfect ACT or SAT score who have gotten rejected from EECS. Not to mention a girl last year who was a valedictorian at a decent Bay Area HS, 4.84 weighted uncapped GPA with a 1580 SAT, who got rejected for EECS but got into CalTech and Columbia.

Having said that, you should be a good candidate, but always have backups just in case because it’s ultra-competitive. If you wanted a more “sure-thing” I might suggest you apply for CS via L&S at Berkeley.

Your stats and activities are better than my daughter’s who was accepted into civil engineering 5 years ago. Good luck!

Your parents are willing to pay $65K per year for Berkeley?
There is no funding for non-residents.

It looks pretty good but do not slack on your essays. I knew a kid who was in-state and had conducted a lot of research with high progress in USAPho and USAMO, who was rejected from Cal and a bunch of other schools.

@“aunt bea” I’m hoping I can land a partial merit-based scholarship along with some financial aid. This guy from my school last year got a full merit-based scholarship, he was a Siemens finalist and two times intel winner.

Money is tight; don’t count on the UC’s to fund you.

Run the NPC for UCB to see your costs estimates will be. You are a very competitive applicant, but as stated by @“aunt bea” , do not count on much FA.
