Thanks!

Your choice of major will drastically alter your admissions chances at the schools you are looking at.

Well, your thread isn’t very organized, but your ECs aren’t very impressive. Your UW GPA and test scores are too low for Stanford and UCB (and possibly UCLA, I don’t know much about admissions there), and you’re a ORM, which won’t help you. There was a lot of information you didn’t tell us, too. What kind of school do you go to? (Public, Private, etc.) What is your class rank? (Might explain your lower GPA) What is your intended major? (Might affect your chance)

Stanford: reach
UCB: low reach
UCLA: low reach

Stanford: high reach
Berkeley and LA: low reaches

I think that Stanford is a high reach, as it is a reach even for those with perfect GPAs and near perfect SAT scores.
UCLA and UCB, on the other hand, are attainable. However, your EC activities aren’t going to be helping that, they aren’t very impressive or focused, I’m sorry to say. With a killer essay, you have a shot, though.

Have you considered UCSD or UCD? Both are absolute excellent, and depending on what you want to study might even be a better fit than UCLA or UCB.

UCSD is an amazing research university-- their graduates have the third highest salaries in the NATION! How cool is that?

@bu2015jr Sorry, but I’m just wondering…how are my extracurriculars not focused? I’ve been pretty involved in band and Interact especially and with the different organizations and things that come with them…I’ve been first chair for like 3 years now, I’ve been asked to play flute accompaniment and stuff, 4 leadership positions in band within the past 2 years, best musician awards…

And with Rotary, 4 leadership positions within the past 2 years. 3 just this year…

I have 7 leadership positions just this year…I was 1 of the 4 juniors out of like the 20-ish people in the club, the rest being seniors, in NHS, the most prestigious club in the school

Am I not doing enough? But tell me how they aren’t focused cuz I’ve really been focused on especially band if you look at the things listed underneath each bulleted category

Historian isn’t a leadership position, really. That’s why I say this.
Maybe focused wasn’t the right word, but I don’t think what you consider to be major leadership actually is.

@bu2015jr Historian is just the title of the position, especially in ASB…tbh it’s not like I do less than the President and Vice President. We work together…we pretty much do the same stuff. Historian, VP, and Pres are the three class officers

Alright, just make sure you make that clear on your App, because it certainly wasn’t clear to me.

Stanford - High Reach
UCLA - reach
UCB - reach

Your GPA isnt really good enough for those schools and you dont have good enough test scores to compensate for your GPA. If you retake the SAT and get a 2200+ your chances will certainly improve, so study hard and focus on that. Your ECs are also nice.
