chance me for UC Davis?

ok, ok, i know ANOTHER person wants other people to guess if they can get in, even though you yourself aren't working for the admissions pannel. i know, and yet, i still feel the need to ask for some educated guesses. I really wanna go to Davis, but I keep stopping myself from getting too set on it because im not sure if i can get in. Here's my STATS:

UC GPA-3.5 (3.1/3.0 soph yr -ouch- and 4.0/4.2 junior yr)--fresh yr i had a 3.5/3.8 and senior year i got a 4.4 my first quarter and ended up with a 4.2 for the semester.
SAT-1940 (550 math/640 reading/730 writing)
by the end of this year i will have taken 7 AP classes, here's my scores:
AP Euro-3
AP Environmental Science-4
AP US history-4
AP English Language-5
and then this year is AP Gov/Bio/English
i have a little over 100 hours of comm service
member of 3 clubs, secretary of 1(i ran supply drives for our local animal shelter, and coordinated an adoption event with them)
ill be the first person in my family to graduate from college
good essays ive been told
aaand yea im a white female and my parents support our family of 5 with less than 60k if that means anything

oh and id either be a Biological Sciences general major or Evolution and Ecology major depending on what they might let me in on

make that a 660 reading, oops

I think you have a good shot !!!

A little less than 50/50. GPA is the #1 thing UCs look at. To your favor, you improved tremendously from sophomore to Junior year.

Actually, now that I think about it, doesn’t UC Davis have a point formula similar to that used at UCSD? Just find their formula, and see where you stand. Then read posts here from last year to see where the point cutoff was for admission last year.

GPA should not be the #1 thing, some schools are easy, some teachers are easy …
I believe the standardized test scores should have more weight, plus you can take more than once to improve it …

@theLeakers:

what “should be” to you is not the relevant question. What IS relevant is what UC admissions readers think is important, and GPA >> test scores in UC admissions. (and U of Michigan as well, which up until about six years ago had a published weighting of criteria that put GPA (IN CONTEXT to the school) at 80% and ACT/SAT at 20% in importance.

how can you compare 2 GPAs when you are in different schools, different teachers, different classmates (if you have smart classmates and your teacher grade on a curve, you are truly hosed)

I understand that standardized test is not ideal, but at least you are comparing 2 students on the performance on the same test …

80% weighing on the GPA is insane …

ummm you can you please not turn my thread into an arguement? I got all excited thinking people were helping me out by offering their opinions just to see you guys arguing about GPA and test scores. I think that you can both just settle it by saying that all schools operate a little differently, this is especially evident in how i know people with a 1810 SAT and a 3.75 GPA who got rejected from Irvine but accepted at Berkeley. who knows? lots of factors go into it.

I think this tells you what is your chance

that is no one know for sure …
you might as well wait for the decision to come out like in the next 30 days, good luck though …

by the way, from their website

[UCDavis : Decision UCDavis](http://admissions.ucdavis.edu/decision/)

looks like it is coming out April 22nd, which seems to be a lot later than most UCs …

this is the admission profile

[UC Davis News & Information :: UC Davis Facts: Campus Profile](http://facts.ucdavis.edu/profile.lasso)

it comes out around march 26th actually. and i know, ive read all the UC Davis page stuff. I was just hoping people who actually got accepted would be on here and we could compare STATS

MY GRADES CHANGED!! i just looked at an updated transcript and my grade for APUSH changed from a B to an A for that semester, changing my GPA for that semester from a 4.17 to a 4.33! so that makes my overall UC GPA (weighted) change from a 3.5 to a 3.65

the weighted should always be more than the unweighted
if you have only one AP class and you get an A, your GPA will be 4 unweighted
for weighted, you get an extra point, so your GPA will be 5 weighted

I believe all the UC decisions have already been made, so the change in grade in one class will probably not affect your chance …

i know the difference between the weighted and unweighted. I’m taking 3 AP classes this year, i took 3 last year and 1 the year before that, I know how the grade bump works, believe me haha. And I don’t know, I called the UC people, and emailed, they said it wasn’t too late. I mean, if I already got in then I don’t care if they see it, but if i didn’t then who knows, it might help, might not.
