I recently got put on the wait-list at UT Austin, which I am appealing.
Your SAT and ACT scores are good. But doesn’t UCSD ask for two SAT Subject Tests?
Your ECs look good and that would definitely make you a good candidate for UCSD but UMIch is really really tough to get into but since you’re OOS, there might be a strong change.
UMich low reach. They put a heavy emphasis on UW GPA but it’s calculated differently than a UC GPA. Take all your grades and drop any +/- and then recalc. That will give you a much better idea. The avg. GPA for UMich is 3.85 or something close.
I think my UC GPA is a 3.62, but I’m not exactly sure. I may have left out a few courses that the school may consider and I may have added some that the school wouldn’t.
Oh and UMich considers all classes 9th- application. So again,it’s a little different than UC. It would be so much easier if every school did it the same.
Just to be honest here, I think your UW GPA seems a bit low for both UCSD and UMich, but again since your ACT and SAT scores are good and your ECs are pretty diverse, I think you might have a good chance (with some good personal statements). Best of luck.
I just wanted to say that I recalculated my UC GPA properly (I was slightly confused on how they added bonus points, so I didn’t add those while calculating), and it’s a 3.7222. Is that any better @Digitallyshrewd and @takeitallin
