Chance Me for UChicago, WashU, Cornell, Columbia, UPenn

Hi it's me again

Stats:
SAT: 780M/790W/740R; 780 bio M, 800 Math 2, 800 World hist
GPA: 4.0 UW idk what weighted is
current high school does rank as a percent--I'm ranked in the top 1.5% of a class of 73 (which doesn't make sense but whatever); freshmen/sophmore rank at old high school was 1/~480 then 3/~480
Will Be NMSF if the cut off for Missouri doesn't jump about 15 points from last year's

Junior Schedule Classes:
Gen Chem I/II A
Gen Biology A
Calc I A
Multivariate Calc (Self taught Calc II over winter break) A
Microbiology A
Western Civ A
Symphonic Band A
Applied Clarinet A
Western Civ A
Composition I/II A

Senior Schedule:
First Semester
Genetics
Physics 1
Diff Eq
Spanish 1
Visual Basic Programming Class
Government
Applied Clarinet

2nd semester senior year I'll try to get in to challenging courses like:
Physical Chemistry 2, complex analysis, cell biology, electronics or electricity and magnetism

ECs:
Freshmen/Sophmore year I attended a regular public school. I did a lot of band and won a few awards:

All-District Clarinet
All-State Honorable Men.
Superior Rating at State Solo Contest
Outstanding Freshmen/Sophmore Band member
Lettered both years
Played in Church/Community Bands

I also did varsity scholar bowl Sophmore year. We won a few tourney's and I lettered, no big deal.

HOWEVER, I transferred to another school junior year. This school is a math/science boarding school on the grounds of a state university. I take college classes there. Because of crazy/stupid state rules I couldn't participate and state music festival or state honor bands. But due to the math/sciency nature of the school I could do a lot more science/math activities. LIKE:

Biology Club Founder/Prez
Science Olympiad --Founding member 2 Regional Medals/3 state medals
FIRST Robotics/Electronics Club
Math Club -- I won a few regional awards/medals
Founding member of Rocket Club
Organizing and running Microbiology Tutoring ~ 50 hrs
In addition to:
Band/Clarinet Lessons

OK the school is kind of new so it lacks a lot of programs so that's why a lot of my clubs are just being founded. Senior year I plan to:

Found Scholar Bowl Team
Take a leadership role in Science Olympiad
Leadership in Math and or Robotics and or Rocket Club
Tutor Microbiology/General Biology and maybe chemistry or calculus
And continue everything else

Summer Programs:

I did Missouri Scholars Academy as a rising junior. It's prestigious in Missouri so it might help me with WashU. Also I'm doing the STARS research program right now. I'm researching at St. Louis University. We've had quite a few WashU people talk to us (even the head Admissions Officer) and they give the impression that they're very impressed with the program. And they've cancelled the application fee so I think it should help too.

Research:

I'm developing a biological assay designed to detect low amounts of DNA hybridization with sensitivity much below current levels. Basically it's purpose is to detect when HIV viruses mutate as quickly as possible. My professor really likes me and offered to write letters of recommendation to various places. I plan to continue it somehow at my school/university in the fall semester.

I plan to enter siemens/intel if I can get this freaking assay to work LOL

Recs:
I plan to get 2, both from biology professors (one or both should be great to amazing)...along w/ my supplemental also from a bio professor. I think it might be unbalanced, but those would be the best.

Chance Me For:

UChicago
WashU
Cornell
Columbia
UPenn

Boomba......

You seem set for any of those colleges.

HEEEY!

lol did you go to MSA 2008 or 2007?

In at all of them. Maybe, just maybe, you won't get into one.

you are set for all of the colleges you listed!

You should have a great chance at all. Make your essays good for Chicago and WashU, and as WashU is known for sometimes rejecting students with statistics like yourself, make sure to demonstrate interest.

MSA 2007, of course! :)

LOL, you founded like every club!!!

IN at all of them barring some strange essays.

You're only taking one year of Spanish...?
Weird that you'd do that. Foreign language is the downfall of alot of people's GPA (including mine). Do any of those schools require more than 1 year?

All of them recommend 3-4 years. I don't think they require more than 1 though. That would've been a ****ty reason to be rejected.

oh lol...if you only took 1 year of a language, you won't get into any of them... (as most colleges recommends 3 - 4 years of a language.

I think he might have taken a year or two of another language during sophomore or freshman years.

I also find the lack of AP/IB classes somewhat disturbing....a 4.0 GPA is rather easy to maintain (just generalizing) w/o AP/IB classes....

wow. go for gold and apply to other top tier schools, if possible. You would deff. be a competitive applicant. Crazy classes, I have never heard of schools having most of those classes. Regarding the lack of AP/IB, since he is in a college campus, taking college classes, they are AP/IB level, so I think admissions will see that. There is a really similar school called CAMS at csu dominguez hills, who also doesnt do AP/IB, since all their classes are supposed to be college level, its the cal academy of math and science, btw

Well, I plan to take Spanish 1 and Spanish 2. I was under the impression that since it was at a university, it counted as a 2 years of high school language -- and yes those are my only foreign language classes. I opted for my science/math classes b/c I found them more interesting. BUT YEAH that would be a really heartbreaking reason to be rejected.

The lack of AP/IB might not be a problem b/c I take all my courses with regular university students. My school is similar to CAMS and other such academies around the country.

I don't know about it counting for two. You should talk to someone about that. However, do you know another language? Perhaps if you took the SATII or AP test for a language, it would cancel out the lack of courses.

There isn't much not to like, so congrats on a strong profile. Good chances at all of them, but I wouldn't go far as to say in at all of them, since some of them are very competitive and random.

Absolutely amazing. Hey, question for OP: How do you teach yourself Calc II over winter break????!!!! You sound like a genius to me!!

I HIGHLY suggest that you apply to MIT and CalTech. You are an amazing applicant for all these schools and honestly will get into one if not more of them.

What exact field are you interested in pursuing as a career?

Ok, I'll look in to a year a college language counting as 2.

And I was able to teach myself Calc II because our winter break is very long -- I took 3 weeks to do it. I am nothing close to a genius.

As a career I am thinking something in biology, perhaps biomedical engineering and maybe doubling in business. But I'm really not sure because I'm not sure what I'm good at yet.

Engineering? Definitely think about Berkeley as well ... top notch engineering program as well.

Boomba!
although i cant figure out who you are.
