Chance me for UCI please!

From Community College

Major: Biochemistry
UC GPA: 3.93
TAG: Completed
Major Requirements: Missing 3 bio classes (not offered by college), Finished only 1/2 of my physics at CC by time of transfer, and MIGHT only finish 1/2 of my organic chem series by time of transfer (might not be able to add class during winter)
ECs: Honors society for once semester, Deans list

yea i'm pretty scared because of my missing major a few pre reqs. I believe they wont count the 3 bio courses against me because they are not offered in my college.

I have 2 Ws btw

they say theres no such thing as a “shoe in” but…

ouch, so even if i’m technically missing 1, at MOST 2 of my pre req classes i will still have a slim chance at admissions? (assuming that the 3 bio courses which aren’t offered at my college will not be held against me) I better start planning out my next year in which i only take 2 classes at ccc : /

UCI is a tough transfer for Bio bc of their damn requirements. I would imagine most CC’s don’t even offer the extra three bio classes that UCI wants so it’s hard to fulfill them anywhere. I think they’ll accept you though and you’ll just have to finish up the classes at UCI.

Oh I see you are also missing parts of Physics and O-Chem. That might hurt you, the people who finish all of them usually get priority (but your GPA is high, I’m not really sure how they deal with that situation then)

Its fine most schools don’t have those 3 bio classes anyways (97,98,99). The typical transfer just has the first year bio + at least 1 year g-chem. And everyone is a biological sciences major entering. You can declare biochem+molecular bio once you have taken the proper pre-reqs and enough classes at UCI.

And I don’t get why you are stressing to get in when u already TAG’d? That means you are guaranteed admissions. Unless some how your gpa goes from 3.93 to below 3.0.

And why UCI, just wondering?

Tell you the truth I only tagged for UCR and UCSB dont ask me why i was completely irresponsible. UCR is nice but I’ve been living in the area for the past 11 years, and I recently realized that UCSB requires ALL prereq classes for my major(counselor screwed me over :/) But yea im gearing towards UCI because i know that missing even 1 prereq class at UCLA, UCB means you aren’t getting in.

I also have not finished the required last math class for UCSD. This leaves me with UCSC, UCM, UCD and UCI. The UC i’m interested in the most in this list would be UCI, plus i’m asian and i love the OC XD.

But yea hopefully i’ll get into at least one of these but i’m just really aching for UCI right now.

oo i just realized i posted TAG: completed instead of IGETC completed… my bad

Not true. A lot of school don’t have all the equivalent bio courses for UCLA anyways. The required coursework they want is

1 year of bio
1 year of g-chem
1 semester of o-chem
1 year calculus

you fulfill that so apply. Your gpa is good so try. But the W’s are bad news…

I got into UCB and didn’t have the 2nd bio requirement done.

For UCSD, a majority of the ppl don’t even take the last math class. I’ve seen way worse stats than yours get into UCSD.

Hes lying. Maybe for TAG. But for admissions its no. Minimum requirements is 1 year g-chem and 1 year general bio. Just apply I bet you get in.

So apply everywhere… You don’t have to finish ALL pre-reqs just a majority of them. Especially the physics. I rarely see people actually finish it.

my god… i love you… thank you very much i shall just apply everywhere and pray my ass off : )

by shoe in, i meant that youre for sure gonna get admitted lol
