now that fall semester is over and my GPA is settle, i would like to know my chances to UCs...

stats:
ccc student
complete IGETC
No TAP
Complete major prep except physics
Lots of EC
Alright Personal statements
3.695 GPA (3.70 if they round up..hopefully)

Major:
biochemistry for UCLA
integrated biology for UCB
human biology for UCSD
biological science for UCI

I'm particularly interested in UCLA and UCB, so can someone please evaluate my chances..thanks

cct, i am gona tell u what the counselor that i saw last friday told me, which is also the same thing that the counselor who i saw b4 fall stated, a big part of admission is UC looking at how much u've done of the undergrad requirements.

All ur majors are tough, Just read that u've done everythign except physics which is remarkable IMO.

I think u'll get into all UC except Berkley.

Question, How many years have u spent at CC?

well for UCLA...i completed all the classes that they offer at my community college (except physics, but i heard it's normal for transfer to complete physics at the UC)...i also heard that UC won't count against me if some of the classes are not offered at my community college....i still have physics, biochemistry(upper division class, not necessary to take until transfer), genetics (not offer at my cc)..tat's basically what i won't be able to finish after spring semester..other than those classes, i'll be done wit everything....

for UCB, i'll be done with everything on assist except physics...

i hope being this specific can help you evaluate me better..thanks alot

CCCT, i went to c a counselor at my cc with a similar question, what is necessary to get in. He said every year it changes b/c it's a competition. Last year he has seen people get in with as low as 3.4 and as high as 4.0 to UCLA, so it's hard to predict.

i want to be some kind of a surgeon...i know it's not easy, but once i transfer, i'll focus only in school...wut's yours?..anyone else wanna evaluate..thanks

This thread is really interesting to me, as I have fairly similar stats, and am also a bio person... slightly different majors (MicroBio @ LA and reg. Bio elsewhere), but still aiming for UCLA (along w/ SB & Davis).

I can't believe that we've only been waiting since the end of November... I swear it feels like I've been waiting forever! I cannot wait until this is all over. ;) I hope.

CCCT, i am striving to go to pharmacy school after i get my bachelors. It's very tough, very few schools offer that degree (SD, SF, USC, UOP, Pomona, LM), my back up is optometry (harder?), physical therapy.

Be sure let me us know which schools u get into. thanks

It is very tough to give you odds. It is a competition and the majors you have listed are some of the most competitive here in California.

Your GPA is good, but as you already know, not something that a UCLA or UCB will be amazed by. However, if your EC's essays are decent you may have a genuine shot at those schools.

And as already mentioned, you should be accepted to Irvine. However, I feel UCSD is a slight reach for you.

I talked to many UCSD reps and they say that as long as you're a ccc students, completed most of your major prep (and which i did) and have a GPA above 3.5, you're basically guaranteed a spot at UCSD. I'm just basing this on what i heard from many SD reps. Thanks for your comments. Anyone else?
