Hi everyone. I was wondering if I should apply Chemical Engineering to my state schools but am unsure of where I would stand. I’m uncertain of my chances due to my lack of an SAT I score (covid canceled 3 tests)
Southern California
Large, competitive school (rank 6/700, ELC-yes)
UW GPA: 4.00
10-11 Weighted: 4.92
UC Fully capped: 4.33
14 AP courses taken, with decent scores (9 before senior year)
Some research/volunteer
Decent other ECs (scioly, varsity sport)
Ok essays
UCB and UCSB say that they will not use SAT/ACT scores. UCLA may if they are allowed to do so pending court decisions.
For 2019, frosh applicants with >= 4.20 HS GPA (weighted capped) had a 38% admission rate to UCB, 35% admission rate to UCLA, and 73% admission rate to UCSB, according to https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/infocenter/freshman-admissions-summary . However, chemical engineering should be assumed to be more difficult to get admitted to than the overall campus stats may suggest.
