good chance at most of the UC schools because you’re a resident and you have good scores. Duke and Vanderbilt will be a bit more competitive because they’re private, but you might have a better chance at Vanderbilt because Duke’s average ACT is 34, but I don’t know if they superscore it. Good luck!

Thank you! I thought Duke’s 75th percentile is 34

Imo, you should get into pretty much all the UCs that you applied to. UCB’s really competitive, but you stand a strong chance of getting in because your scores are really good and your ECs are good too. I don’t know much about Duke, vanderbilt, and USC, so I can’t say anything about them.

@PureMathIsFun done, thanks

What major are you applying as for? This might change your chances for UCB and UCLA. Overall, you’re GPA/ACT look good, and you have a good mix of EC’s. What’s your capped UC GPA? You should get into all UC’s, USC, and Vanderbilt. Not sure about Duke.

@ayyyyyyy The majors I applied to were ether biochem or biophysics

@ikim16 done and thanks

The fact you are a California resident means you have a great shot all most of the UC schools. Berkeley and UCLA are naturally more competitive, but I think you will get in. Same with USC. Vanderbilt and Duke are tricky. I think you have a better chance a Vanderbilt, but that isn’t to say Duke won’t accept you. You have great scores, a great GPA, and nice extracurriculars. I think that combined with great essays and recommendations will make you a fantastic candidate. Hope this helps, and good luck!

@theaussie Thank you for your input!

You’ve put yourself into good position for admittance to the UC’s an instate student with the scores and grades you have has a good chance. Obviously UCLA and UCB are going to be harder than the others but I’d say you have a good chance at those too. Your EC’s are interesting and I think the speed cubing like you said is unique and will make you stand out. Duke is a reach for anyone but you definitely are a viable and competitive candidate the same goes for Vanderbilt but I think of the two you’re more likely to get into Vanderbilt just cause Duke is so competitive and Vanderbilt is slightly less. Best of luck to you!
