Applying to

UCLA Engineering, UC Berkeley LS, UC San Diego comp sci

You will a high chance to get accepted. You are well above the 75th percentile. The UCs have also been accepting more out of state students. If you get in though, you will most likely be full pay.

Hi, I know that my sat is above average, but my gpa is terrible - isnt 3.58 like .3 below the average gpa for engineering?

UCLA/UCB/UCSD: Low Reach

GPA is very low for all schools listed but your SAT is very competitive. Do you have a good explanation for your low GPA? Did you address the low GPA in one of your essays?? If you have a good explanation, you might have a much better chance for an acceptance. Your application is not just reviewed on your GPA/SAT only, but since no one on CC has access to your full application, it is difficult to give a fair evaluation. The GPA/SAT mismatch is a red flag to admissions so hopefully can address this problem. Good Luck.

i don’t really have a reason other than I was lazy and didnt work hard :frowning:
i took hard courses though and also did sports year round, so i’ll hope theyll attribute my gpa to that

also my school is pretty competitive ~60/400 students each year go to ivies and other top schools

probably in. i think it’s easier for out of states with low gpas to get into those schools. your ECs are meh though, but if your essay was good, you have a really good chance. match for sd and la, low reach for cal.

Your GPA is awful, and the UCs prefer high GPA over high test scores.
UCB - high reach
UCLA - high reach
UCSD - reach

low reach

Accepted to UCSD Mathematics and UC Berkeley L&S!

Rejected from UCLA Engineering

Congratulations and glad the majority of my chances were proven wrong. Good Luck to you.
