I'm a Santa Monica College student currently applying to 3 schools for the fall '10 semester.

As of right now I have a 3.79, but I intend on getting A's this semester to bring it up to around a 3.81 after this fall.

Also, as of right now, I have 91.5 quarter units, and will have around 114 completed by the time I transfer (next summer). After spring '10 I will have completed ALL the IGETC requirements. As far as bio major pre-reqs, I will have completed 2 semesters of Calc (both A's), 2 semesters of General Chem (1 A and 1 B), 2 semesters of Organic chem (A's), 3 semesters of Bio (2 A's, one B), but I haven't taken any Physics (heard that UCLA doesn't require physics for psychobiology?).

I'm in the scholars program (TAP) at SMC, and after this semester I will have completed the necessary classes to receive certification .

I haven't done any community service during my last 3 years at SMC, but I completed over 200 hours during high school. (can I put that on my UC application?)

I've had part-time jobs and have paid for nearly all of my living expenses independently, with a little help from the parents from time to time.

My applied majors:

UCLA: Pre-psychobiology
UCSD: Physiology and Neuroscience
Berkeley: Neurobiology

I want to go to medical school after my undergrad, if that's not obvious already

about the personal statement: I started writing mine about my interest in human biology and psychology, more specifically the relationship between the two: bridging the gap between the mental mind and the physical body/brain and its biochemical pathways (placebo effect, as one example). Or should I focus on something more personal, perhaps a challenging class or work experience that I overcame?

So what do you guys think? Thanks in advance!
