Chance me for UIUC double major in either Mechanical or Bioengineering and accounting

Stats:
I'm currently a junior who lives in Illinois.
For UIUC specifically, last year 171 of the about 550 seniors applied, and 133 were accepted. 62 enrolled.

Classes (I'm only listing academic ones)

Freshman year:
Honors Physics PCB - A both semesters
Honors History of World Civilizations - A both semesters
Honors Freshman English - A both semesters
Advanced Algebra - A both semesters
Honors French 2 - A both semesters

Sophomore year:
Honors Sophomore English: B both semesters
Honors French 3: B, then A
Pre-Calculus - A then B
Honors Chemistry PCB - B both semesters
Sociology - 1 semester, A
Brain Studies - 1 semester, A

cumulative UW: 3.7 (estimate)

Junior year course load:
Honors Junior English
Honors French 4
AP US History
AP Calc AB
Honors Bio PCB
Honors Consumer Education 1st semester, Public Speaking the 2nd
My gym counts towards my academic GPA too - It's honors gym

Predicted Senior year course load:
AP Psych
AP Stats or BC calc if that would be better
AP Bio or Chem
AP French or French 5 if it's offered
Honors English: College Writing and Literature
I'd love to be a senior peer group leader if I can (you have to apply) - not academic though
Early bird gym to make it all fit

I haven't actually taken the ACT yet - I'm taking it in December. My PLAN test predicted a 28-30, but that's without any prep courses or workbooks. I know that's probably not high enough, but I'm sure I can get at least a 32.

My school doesn't rank, nor does it give percentiles. I'd estimate top 25%, maybe 15%, but I really have no idea.

Extra curricular activities:
Erika's Lighthouse club - 9th-now, hopefully a leadership position this year
PAWS animal club 9, 11 - couldn't do it last year b/c of a schedule conflict
French National Honors society - Inducted end of last year, and I'll be in it until I graduate
Job as a sterilizer at an orthodontist's office a couple days a week, 6-10 hours a week, from the beginning of this school year, and I'm hoping to keep it until college starts as I really like it.

What do you think my chances are? Are there any classes I should try to change for senior year? I can't really change anything this year because my schedule is really hard to change due to the times of the classes.

Classes that might be good to take:

Principles of applied science and technology - yearlong, not honors
Science Projects - 1 semester, honors available. It's basically a class where the students design the curriculum around science topics that interest them. So far, they haven't been able to get enough students to sign up to actually do the class.
Should I take BC calc instead of Stats?

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Work hard and you should be taking your first ACT soon. For UIUC engineering, try to raise your GPA and score 31+ in ACT for a better chance. The mid 50 ACT is 31-34. It is very possible to score a couple points higher than the predicted range if you do prepare for the test thoroughly. My D achieved 2 pt above the predicted range after preparing for the test over the summer before Junior. Have you done some practice tests over the summer, and what is your current practice score?

My practice test scores have been around 32, some lower some higher.

Make sure you take December/January ACT.

Follow this if you want, it will help you.
Take ACT on Dec/Jan(It will help you see where you are standing atm) >> Study if you are not pleased with your score >> Take one before summer starts >> Study if you are not pleased with that score >> Take one in September(MAKE SURE THIS IS YOUR FINAL ONE).

I’m taking the December one, and then probably the one in February. My school makes us take one in the spring, but that one doesn’t have writing. The other ones I’m doing will though. Thanks for the advice!

I know engineering is hard to get into, would a summer program with UIUC help my chances? They have some really cool ones, and so does UMich.

Also, I’m still wondering about classes to take next year that would be helpful. There’s the Principles of Applied Science and Technology - yearlong, not honors, and I’m not sure if I should I take BC calc instead of Stats. Any opinions?

UIUC will look at your course rigor which looks good and for engineering they will look at overall ACT score plus math/science subscores. I think to have a good shot at either the Business school or engineering you will need at 31+ as someone above suggested. I don’t see how you can double major in engineering and accounting - if that’s what you’re asking. UIUC also says they look at the whole application not just grades/test scores. Best of luck.

@leftrightleft - Why can’t I double major in those 2 fields? Is it because of the rigor that each requires?

hello? anyone?
