good chance. especially for engineering program because of your engineering internship. SAT Math might have room for some improvement, especially for engineering. SAT II Bio is good. Are you perhaps applying for Bioengineering?

Yes I am applying for Bioengineering

Bioengineering is a VERY competitive program there.
they get about 500 applicants a year, and only accept about 100, with only 50 going on to study there. I would say the SAT Math might bring you down a little bit, but with a good essay, you can get in. Just write about what you want to do with the Bioengineering program. Like save the world or something.

Which major is the least competitive at UIUC? Isn’t Bioengineering at UIUC relatively new?

yes. its fairly new.
the school of ACES is not very competitive. they need more people to apply.

Are you aware if I am admitted into ACES would i be able transfer to BioEng or some other major? I’d think that would be tough.

ACES appeals to me only because of the word ENVIRONMENTAL but ultimately I would think that BioEng would have many more things I would be interested in

Nevermind, I went on the ACES website and watched the video overview and its description of the major. It isn’t in my interests.

I’m sure that I would have no shot at the Civil Engineering correct? The company I worked for was pretty much the best Civil company in the US

i think that would be tough to transfer from ACES to BioE.
maybe go for molecular engineering or biology or something related to BioE. then transfer from there.

btw chance me http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1013252-chances-hyps-upenn-berkeley-like.html

Your saying I should not apply to Engineering at all? I thought my stats were you know decent/good enough for it haha

NO not what im trying to say.
Go for it and apply for BioE.
Im saying there’s an alternate route if you dont excepted in BioE but still get accepted in Engineering or DGS.

but when i apply, i apply to a specific engineering major its not like I apply to just “Engineering”

yea. so apply Bioengineering.

Can anyone else chance me?

After searching around on CC, i’ve seen that most people believe that bioengineering is the MOST selective in UIUC. Should I play it safe and try to apply to a less selective department? Wouldn’t the Civil department be most selective since UIUC is ranked 1st for Civil?
