Chance me for UIUC

I am an in state Illinois resident. I have a 27 act, I know its not great but im not a great test taker, and that was the absolute highest I could get. GPA is a 3.6 unweighted. Class rank is top 13 percent. I have taken about 8 total Honors/AP classes. I want to be a chemistry major. I also have about 5 clubs ive been in including NHS. Please chance me, thanks! Oh and is it true that University of Illinois UC gives advantage to in state students???

Seems to be conventional wisdom that they give pref to instate, but the adcoms I’ve heard claim that is not the case. In any case, if there is a preference I think it is safe to say that it isn’t a very big one.

Alright, but can you chance me?

Sorry @evanm137‌ but I don’t have the inside scoop on selectivity for Chemistry.

27 ACT is on the low side but within the median 50% range for DGS, while your class rank is right in the middle of the DGS range.

Maybe talk with your high school counselor as he/she probably has experience with similar situations.

Good luck!
